Swordsman Archive
Thread: I'm sure this has been said before, but I want to re-emphasize
getting xp in ranged vs melee is. I don't expect to be 'equal' to ranged; we each have our strengths/weaknesses. But this is ludicrous.
I am a Novice Fencer, Swordsman, and Carbineer, with each profession at the same exact level. On two nights running, I've joined a group of similarly leveled individuals, to hunt voritors on Dantooine. I have noticed consistently that the xp with the two Brawler professions is MUCH less than with the carbine. And the damage/HAM cost/ risk of being poisoned is incomparable with that of ranged. So, in other words, I sustain HUGE amounts of damage, get poisoned, use TONS more HAM, all to GET LESS XP!
What theheck is up with this?
If I use a carbine to take down a voritor- I get anywhere from 1500-2000 xp. A two - handed sword yields about 800-1000 xp. A one handed sword: 500 xp!!!!!! PLUS the damage I do as a melee isn't THAT much more than I can do with a special move with my carbine... at much less HAM cost.
There *is* some downtime with melee, as you back off to get healed, that you don't have with the carbine. But it's minimal with the awesome combat medic we have. We as melee NEED to have BETTER defense against MOBs. We NEED to have LOWER HAM costs- or at LEAST inflict DAMAGE that is in PROPORTION to that HAM cost!!!!
Devs- This isn't a 'whine'. I'm not doing to 'quit' unless you fix this. I LOVE this game AND my character. But please please please
WE NEED MELEE LOVE!

Errr what? In all my experiences I've been the exp hog. When I was a pistoleer my TK friend was the exp hog...
::shrug::
That's my experience on our sever - Flurry. A TKA novice I fought with last night made the same observation.

perhaps it's the swordsman difference?
Because the Novice TKA had the same problem, I know it's not a bug with me personally.
The only other thing, that I didnt consider, is perhaps the lizards have a high kinetic defense...
But that still doesnt account for the huge difference in HAM and that, as melee we are at much higher risk for poisoning..etc...
