Which tree is best to go up first?

I'm a rifleman, too, so I am going up Techniques first: it has the Mind hitting specials, and I'll be using the sword to deliver finishing blows when targets charge me in melee.

go up tech then you cvan use the PH without havign to wry about really bad speed as much

Tech because the speed is huge. You get xp much faster after it..

Go Tech 2, then pick up Offense 1 to get Area Attack 1 (more damage than 2HandHit2, but less HAM and also AE, comes in handy). Then finish going up Tech.
