Anyone know how bad this armor effects your specials? I'm getting a set tonight and even though I tend not to use armor I'm getting really tired of taking full damage agaist Pistoleers and Rifleman in rare cases when I feel like PvP...............

Anyways, I'm really interested in knowing if any fellow swordsman have used Composite armor while using ph's and Katana's and what their experiences have been.............

Make sure you get doctor/chef/spice buff before you use specials, or just dont use them The encumbrance is insane...Like over 200 mind for the helmet alone if I remeber right. But it looks so cool tho

I wear full comp armor.. I have found that as far as HAM costs are concerned it still costs about the same... which is WAY to much. With armor on or off you will still kill yourself with specials which is why you need stims to keep yourself alive. Therefore the comp armor is worth it because it still protects you. Even if you quickness drops to 67 with it on. I find that the only time we really counter our move costs with HAM is if you have seriousbuffs going on like over 2k in quickness.

I wear a full suit. I can do about 4-6 Power Hammer specials before I get "low" on health, and about 10-12 Sword specials. But I also can heal myself so I push it.

I think once the new patch goes in and we get cheaper special costs and they drop the costs on power hammers we will be set.

Since this is the closest thing to what I was looking for to post on, I will use it as an extension on the original question. I am an aspiring swordswoman and currently I run around in regular clothes since the costs on the stats are so great in regular armor. Can anyone explain to me either a: the benifits of not wearing armor b: wearing armor and what would be the best armor to purchase for our profesion? I appreciate all the helpful advise I can get in this matter!

On the topic of armor, the best thing I have found is to get a good smuggler to slice your composite for you. There is about a 50/50 chance that it will get a HAM reduction which is what you want. What I have noticed is that with the armor sliced for HAM its not too bad.

Remember this though, action cost is out biggest multiplyer so at bare min make sure your legs and gloves are sliced for a HAM reduction. Our next big hit is in Health so its also important to make sure the chest is sliced for aq HAM reduction.

Our special moves look like this for the most part:

Special heath cost 1

Special action cost 2

Special mind cost 1

What that means to us is what you do a special with your 107/29/26 power hammer you will be spending 107 health, 58 action and 52 mind to do it as a base. This is then adjusted by your Strength, Quickness, and Focus.

So what does this mean? You don't really want to use you 2h Curved sword while wearing armor even if its your best dps weapon because its 66 action cost will hit you for a base of 132. Ouch. Since health usualy the lower of the 3 special cost multiplyers then use your Cleaver/Power Hammer when equiping the armor.

Lastly, some advice was given to me by other Swordmen/Swordwomen from this board(Thanks a ton btw). That advice was to fine a master artisan and have them make you up some melee power ups in factory crates. They come 10 per crate and only take up 1 space in your inv so you can carry several crates. The ones I use are weapon specific. I have some that are -30% action cost +15% min dmg and other that are -30% health cost +15% min dmg. If you wear armor these are almost a must.

Power hammer heath before powerup = 107 after 74. What that really means is you can do 30% more specials with the high health cost beast. If you could do 3 or 4 before, add a powerup and you can do 5 or 6. As for my 2h Curved sword, it goes from 66 action cost to 46. 46 is actualy managable with the right stat migration.

Anyway, sorry for the long post. Hope it helps.
