I have a thing about being a swordsman. Currently I'm a pistoleer, full stances and grips and combat EXP boxes. I wish it was a viable profession but here is what it seems like to me...

The specials are all pretty much area posture lower... with a dizzy attack etc.

No knockdown of any type.

much lower DPS then other professions

No super hard hitting attacks?

Devs don't pay much attention to you...

I know that polearms can 1 hit people still with high level specials ... what is the upper level damage on your swords attacks? In short I really want to be a swordsman but it seems pretty impotent. Someone change my mind?

you need better weapon. Swordsman can do crazy damage.
Area hits lower your opponents and does very good damage, usually 1k-4k with my powerhammer every 2 sek for everyone in range.
However, next patch will hit us too, posture change timer will make it unpossible to lower someone to prone and it will be very difficult to catch someone with lunge. They can just stand up and run away.

btw, we have dizzy on twohandArea3, but only ~ 30% chance to apply it. And we will be unable to use it after the patch without lunge2. Dont like that posture change timer

I think he's just taken mental damage from playing his overpowered Pistoleer profession.

this guy must have us mixed up with someone else... We are the hardest hitting melee profession on the game. We are the Samurai of the Galaxy. We lay waste to all that are dumb enough to fight us in close quarter combat. But I agree with the above post... we will be hit hard on the next big patch. Posture change is our bread and butter in PvP. Without it we have to use a diferent strategy. We have to dizzy them first with 2handhit3, then lower posture. Or we can just lower posture starting out and hope we land a dizzy with the Area3. But yes my friend... PLEASE, do NOT get the Cream of the Crop of the Melee classes mixed up with the others... We are in a class above the rest.

Last time I checked, there wasn't an AP2 pistol with a max damage of nearly 250 AND a speed under 3.0.

And with that weapon, at Novice Swordsman, I can do an attack that targets mind pools for 3K damage.

just a few questions it seemslike you can answer..

a) swordsmen do more dmg than pikemen? consistantly?

b) will swordsmen survive the KD nerf better than the pikeman?

c) if I didn't even use posture attacks.. ever.. would swordsman be better than pikeman?
