Just wondering, what do you think? Are Swordsman any good? Or should I just go commando?

We are very similar classes. both builds let you take on anything in PVE for now, till the changes from TC come over. Commando has a slight edge because of fire, hard to get rid of. But if they miss it, they have a significant delay before doing it again. I have been fighting commados off and on this week, and fire is the thing that annoys me the most. Other than that, I can make them miss often and go in for the kill. That isn't to say they are bad, that is just to say with good techinque, we are about even in head on PVP. The game becomes more even all the time. So far I have liked all the changes made. I just make the best of it, and use it to make me a better player, it is really up to you. I think they are fairly even.

Do you want to fight or do you want to watch? Simple as that. Ranged classes with pets just "watch" a spam a key. Melee classes actually use technique a lot. I say this from experience and not to be sarcastic

Ex Bounty Hunter, ex Master CH,ex Master combat medic,ex Pistoleer-still have a line in that though.

I have never had so much fun playing as right now and I am only Novice Swordman/Teras Kasi student

before, if I caught agro that my pet didn't get I would be running around like a chicken with its head cut off, trying to stay alive. Now I run straight for the target, foaming at the mouth. If my ranged buddy catches agro I will pull my argo and start attacking his, then take both on w/o worry. I see our commados getting pounded when mobs melee them. I take probably 1/4 the damage or less they take from a hit. It really is more gratifying killing up close and personal.

Going ranged or melee is a simple decision...

If you want to PvP a lot, then go with ranged.

If you want to PvE a lot, then go with melee.

If you wanna run around like a girl and be bored, go ranged.

If you wanna get your feet wet and have fun, go melee.

I agree, I have had much more fun using my sword than I have my pistol. Also, going swordman gives you a chance to participate in some interesting duels against other melee classes. Unlike ranged duels, which most of the time last about 5 seconds and are determined by who knocks down first and spams their best attack,a melee duel is longer between equally matched players and is determined by the right set of attacks. For instance, if you are fighting someone with low minf bars, then you would use a mind bleed and a series of mind attacks. The great thing about swordsmen is that they have attacks for all the bars, while they still have a lot of mind attacks. The area attacks are also useful. There is no greater thrill than watching three NPCs slain at once.

I was a grenadeer/master ch before I got my holo. It told me swordsman obviously I think swordsman is better and I am just a 0102 right now. Commandos get the crappy range of 16 m. Swordsman have to be within 7 m. Commandos take a severe melee damage penalty while the swordsman does not. The sword does a viscious mind bleed that cannot be healed. The flamethrower does a health fire dot that causes wounds. In PvP when you run into a fully buffed fighter, the fire dot will not do anything. However, the mindbleed will kill everyone. The only class that can heal mind damage is the the combat medic. It causes them wounds so they don't use it often. The sword can hit much faster than the flamethrower. If you are holo hunting in the crystal caves, the swordsman/ch or the rifleman/ch will alwaysoutdamage the grenadeer/ch. I dueled a master rifleman today and killed him. What does that say about this class?
