Thread: Swordsman template.

Well I decided to go swordsman afterall. I spent about 40 minutes exping (working on IV now) and I am loving it so far. I am planning on mastering swordsman, anddabbling in other professions.So far I have came up with:



Master Swordsman

0/4/4/0 Doctor (+clothing attachments for better buffs).

0/3/0/4 Teras Kasi

1 skill point remaining.


With this template, I have:

77 Melee Defense

60 Ranged Defense

20 Defensevs Blind

20 Defense vs Intimidate

40 Defensevs Posture Change

25 Defensevs Dizzy

45 Defense vs Knoctdown

65 Defense vs Stun

56 Defense Acuity (does this stack?)

This basically allows me to have better defense for pvp and for pve. Any comments or suggestions ? All are welcome....good or bad. This is my first attempt at a template, so please...go easy

Melee and ranged are a bit weak with the ammount you had, but shouldnt be a gigantic deal after Publish 7.


You left out Counterattack also, which would most likely be your primary weapon in PvP It is always nice to have Doctor to heal states, but I would suggest freeing up some points for the meditate line of TKA, is a life saver.

How did you come up with those numbers? Calculate them yourself or what?


I want to go TKM, Master Swordsman, 4000 Fencer, 0004 artisan, and novice medic.

doesnt look bad to me. i plan on going master sword, all 4 boxes of the meditation line, novice medic, and rifleman with everything i have left over. ill be a mindattackin machine!! =P



Alderonn -- retired from a sadly broken game. my return is dependant upon SOE's ability to make this in to the great game it can be, or leave it broken. i imagine it will be the second option.

well i sat down a figured it out.


my templat is currently tkm, 0312 swordsman, master artisan, and 4120 brawler, novice medic. I am going for tkm, master swordsman, 0004 fencer, novice medic, and 0004 artisan.


Calculated the defences (could be wrong for all i know, just sat down w/ pencil and paper)


Melee +155

Ranged +129


Blind +10

Dizzy +35

KD +45

Posture down +40

Stun +80

Counter attack +95

Intimidate +20


Now I dont know were the cap is on those defences, or weather the second set even stack.

I have heard conflicting reports of how they are changing Melee and Ranged defence. Even reports of them not even touching Melee and Ranged defence.

Hot, your stats are a bit off. I used the character builder @http://swgcb.yogn.net/index.php then did a 'view report' which calculates everything for you. I think you ment getting 4/0/0/0 in the Fencer line, which makes more sense to me as it would add to your defense. After the next publish, it'll be capped so there will be no real reason to get fencer for the extra defense. Capping Melee and Ranged defenes then adding the resistances will be the main thing to do once publish 7 comes out.

If you plan to PVP as an melee, I would recomend the Pistol Tech Tree. Best defensive tree in the game. You get ranged mitigation 2, +50 KD Def, and +40 to Dizzy stun and blind i believe.

By all accounts, Melee and Ranged defense are untouched on test right now, while dodge/counterattack and other secondary defense skills are capped at 125.
