Thread: Combat Balance Proposal
that has several rather extreme advantages and disadvantages. The obvious advantage is the freeing up of what, 40 skillpoints for those of us using only a Scythe, or only a curved sword. That is a very strong advantage because it allows you to dabble in so many more professions for more defenses and offenses or medical abilities.
The disadvantage is also rather extreme, you can't stash 16 moves in 4 boxes, that makes the difference between the boxes too great, swordsman levels very close to each other will be very widely apart in balance. So you must do with fewer moves, and we already have one fewer then the other profs, and only 3 categories at that. I made a post asking for an EXTRA move, I'm not gonna sacrifice the ones I already have ![]()
On a different note, I would absolutely LOVE seeing people who use a curved sword fight different from people using a power hammer. The curved sword calls for asian swordsman art movement, the powerhammer calls for celtic smashing, a move that works with one (area attack 1 is very much a katana move, the spin attacks are hammer moves) are technically pointless with the other weapon. However, this cannot be accomplished by making a tree for each weapon, because there are too many to make enough moves to make each interesting. The only way is to divide the weapons in a way allowing the groups to use the same animations. SOE tried this with the one-handed/two-handed/polearm division. I personally wouldn't mind seeing a blunt/long/sharp division instead.
