OK, does it work or do i have to be holding a 1h Weapon?

People are telling me that it does.

It does. Pikata Pie and the like is added in the calculation of the general defence (Melee Defemce and ranged Defence, Center of being etc..). This causes the opponent to miss more often, and the pistoller/fencer dodge is only used if you get hit.
