Well, finally decided to do a little Krayt Hunting today. Been Master Swordsman for 2 weeks now and decided to try my luck soloing Krayts. I got my buffs (health/mind) and jumped on my speeder and cruised around the graveyard. Finally found a Canyon Krayt and joined some others who were working on it. They were doing minimal damage to health, while I was wailing away on it's mind. With the defenses from Fencer and Swordsman, I really didn't get hit that much, and my health bar never dropped down more than 200 points or so. Now, I don't have any speed attachments (wishful thinking) and I just have a generic speed sliced Hammer and Scythe... nothing spectacular. So I was hitting around 2k-3k on good hits, and 1k on bad ones. Since it was around 35% resistant I wasn't doing a whole lot of damage, but way more than the others in my little group. they each died about 5 times and finally gave up. So, here I am, battling this thing for around 30 mins or so, got it down to around 5k mind and it up and runs off like a bat ouf of H E L L and since I have 0 scout skills, I amble off after him, up and down the hills trying to get in those last few precious hits.... then.... POOF!!!! he disappears, I get a "Target Lost" message and I'm left standing there with NOTHING to show for my efforts, not to mention all the damage to my composite chest armor. So, I trudge back towards where I started and I find a Juvie.... 3 mins later with mind hit 3, he goes down... of course... NO LOOT. Then 2 Canyons and a Juvie spawn right in front of me. So I take on the Juvie while the Canyons attack me. Kill him, again NO LOOT. I attack one of the Canyons and keep sticking an intimidate on the other every now and then to keep him off my back. 45 mins later...... almost no mind left on the one canyon and ..... yup, you guessed it!!! He runs off, I give chase and POOF.... gone AGAIN!!!! Now, I'm getting a little frustrated at this point, so I square off against the other Canyon and while I'm fighting him.... BAM... another two Canyons and a Juvie, so now, fighting 3 canyons and a juvie all at once.... I start running around to all the other MOBs in the area and they help out a little as they aggroed on the Krayts at times, or me.... so some time with spin attacks with my scythe and I manage to take out the Juvie..... and I get the "you do not have permission" message on the loot...... By now, my mind buffs are gone, and I have like 10 mins left on my health buffs... so I run like mad until I get away, hop on my speeder and call it a day........ Now, do I have the WORST LUCK on my first day Krayt hunting mixed with the BEST LUCK for all the spawns or what?!?!?!?!?!?!

Anyway, just thought I would share my Ulcer enhancing experience with all my fellow Swordsman....

The poofing has happened to me with Giant Dune Kimos. Just as their mind bar is at a sliver, i had two of them warp 65m straight up in the air, then down, then up, then down, then poof. I'm convinced they both were going to drop scales and there were a couple of devs in an office somewhere with one telling the other to "watch this" and laughing their a$$ at me.

Yep, happened to me today as well. It was just one but it was INCREDIBLY frustrating. I get it down to 20k mind then he runs up the hill about 50m, i run after him, he hit him once and he runs another 50-100m, i run after him and eventually get it down to like 5k mind and it shoots up in the air. i'm really annoyed at this point and start walking off cause i didnt think it would come down, then it did come down and i start attacking it.. again.. 4k mind left.. 3k mind left.. 2k mind left.. 1k mind left.. bang! target lost... Never to be seen again..

Not to sound like a noob, but /taunt... what skill is that? Where do you get it?? is it in the Brawler line? not at my home computer so can't check it out. I have heard others talk about it in the Elder threads, and wondered about it. Didn't think about it today though... silly me.

in a way, you got lucky to find a static spawn with no people around

advice: next time if you find one, draw the krayt(s) away from it, and be sure to /waypoint it..

Would you like me to call a doctor? You seem to be suffering from the delerium that you can solo2 400k HAM krayts at once without incident. Without healing or 100% composite armor there's no way you'd have survived for as long as you say

I didn't read him say he didn't heal. And you don't need 100% composite. Read below.

And yes, I rarely heal, except when I don't pay attention to my armor and it breaks, which happens about once every 3-5 days.

Yes, you can.

It's easy.

I do it EVERY DAY.

I have over 50 pearls to show for it, over 300 scales and segments for armor, and my rifleman buddy has over 150 tissue.

It's friggin EASY.

I'll even be nice enough to tell you how...

Find the spawn (sometimes like 3 times in the last 3 days) right next to another krayt spawn.

Run up to one of the canyons intimidate - cuts the damage down by about 1/2, then calculates the armor resistances, so let's say a krayt hits you for 2k, drops to 1k with intimidate, and then to 250 with the armor, and then figure the calculations for any defense/toughness/counterattack mods anything of the nature on top of that.

Let's say it hits you for 2k constantly, that 250 with armor and intimidate most people can handle that.

Alright back to the strategy...

After intimidating one of them turn on the other, intimidate it, mindhit2, spam the hell out of headhit3, fill up your queue, target the first one and watch for intim to expire takes about 2 full queues on my swordsman to have it disappear, when it does disappear, intim again on the first one, the second one should be expiring soon, intim it again, mindhit2, headhit3x200 or so lol, with the master rifleman I hunt with, we can take out a canyon in about 5-10 minutes max.

Ok there's the combat way to handle it.

All you need is doctor buffs, secondary mind buffs, 2x brandy, and 3xahrisa.

I use the ahrisa because it nullifies your mind cost for specials, and your mind will only go down if you get hit in it. So don't worry about regen. If it gets that bad, take a muon, and when you hit the downer stick with intim and auto attack.

We killed 4 spawns this morning, pulled 4 pearls, 39 scales/segments, and 12 tissue (runs of 10/2).

And even without the rifleman I can take out a canyon krayt, it's when it has either giant or ancient in front of it that I don't want to mess with it without at least 1 other person.

Ive finally discovered /taunt recently. Found a Giant Kimoglia spawn yesterday and they kept running out of distance, so set up a macro to /taunt and /intimidate2 every 10 seconds and it worked an utter charm. (9 GK's killed, no scales )

Same with tanking an Ancient Krayt..was with a Jedi and RIfleman so id do the tanking. Some others turned up though and stole the loot/outdamaged whatever way you look at it.
