Seems you have been misinformed by the weaponsmith. As far as I know there is no way to use krayt tissues for melee weapons...

Anyhow, what you want to do is read through the stickie thread called "Scythe FAQ". It contains information on what components you can use to build the scythe, whats good and whats not.

The Scythe FAQ is available here if you are unble to locate it in forum:

I would definetly stay away from that WS when it comes time to build the scythe. Even if he's a 12 point smith.

I'd be willing to bet that your WS has all the parts already to make you a Scythe. He just wants the Krayt tissue as a payment.

What server are you on? I'm sure we can recommend good WS for you. Until then, here are some tips, as I try to be as involved in the crafting of my weapons as humanly possible:

You're going to want as many scythes from that schematic as possible, so you're going to have to hit the geo caves. You want one of two ways of doing this. Great sword cores, or great yellow cubesAND solidifying agents. Now, here's where math and knowhow come into play:

Standard crafted Geo sword cores on Kettemoor are 40/40 min/max dmg and -0.4 speed. Your server's stats may vary. That includes using white cubes and no solidifyers. You need at least 3 matching cubes and solidifyers to make one scythe, or, 2 matching looted sword cores. Now, yellow cores add a minimum of 10 damage to a crafted core, as does a solidifyer. So you're looking at 60/60 damage cores at the very least. Keep this in mind when looking for looted cores.

Here's where it gets tricky. You get 2 uses on that schematic for the scythe. Now, you can either loot 3 VERY good cubes and solidifyers to make ONE scythe. I've personally seen them add 25 dmg each. So 90/90 sword cores. Not bad right? But looting 3 identical of each is VERY difficult. It's much easier to loot say, 6 matching 40/59 loot dropped sword cores and make2 scythes. This is where your judgement comes into play.... Would you rather have one AMAZING scythe and take your chances on the slice? God forbid you hit a speed slice, or worse yet, a slice with percentages in the mid teens. OR, would you rather hunt down 6 matching sword cores with above average stats, and make3 above average scythes and have a better chance of getting a 35% damage slice? Me, I'd rather have multiple scythes made up.

Check the bazaar, loot the fallen crazed geonosians, and find powerful sword cores. I found a set of 8 matching 45/59 cores with -0.7 speed which will get me 3 VERY nice scythes to play with on one use of the schematic, and 10 matching 35/55 cores which will make 4 pretty nice scythes. That's 7 scythes made instead of two. See what I'm getting at?

OH, and never pay a weaponsmith over 200,000 to make a scythe with YOUR resources. The trustworthy ones on Kettemoor (Raiyne, Truebel, Rhad) will charge about 50-100k per scythe made. I'm personally going to Truebel. If you choose to use their resources, ask the stats of the components first, and I've seen some WS ask for 1 million credits each to make "SUPER" scythes from their private stock of components.

Coming from a Weaponsmith:

If you want the best scythe you have 2 choices:

1. Loot yellow cubes, solidifing agents and a geo sword core schematic. Make sure the yellow cubes and the solidifing agents are above average to an exceptional Quality ( based on the normal stats ). Give these to your weaponsmith and let him make his magic

2. Loot 2 geosword cores and give them to your weaponsmith along with the scythe schematic. Be warned however because this only works if you get extremly good sword cores. Normally a weaponsmith can make swordcores much better then looted ones, however, in rare cases some drop that even a weaponsmith cant beat.

woah your weaponsmiths make you pay 50-100k to make a scythe? wow i only charge 2k on my server. it doesn't seem right to charge so much for them if the person brings me the schematic and all the componets then why am i going to charge 50-100k to make it. i just charge for the resourses used. and my big payment is the 2nd schematic use which is where i get my own cubes and solidifying pastes and make an uber scythe then sell it for 600k-1mil

If you are on Chimera, I would recomend you to go to HELLSHOCK on dant. he takes one scythe for costs and you get the other one free, all you have to do is get the schem. and he uses very good components/resourses
