There is no "vs".

2hCurved wins hands down.

I am also working towards novice(50k to go) and am getting a vibroaxe made atm . I currently use a 2handed curved sword and was curious about what to expect when i get my axe. Is there a noticable difference between the two? Thanks.

Hate to dissapoint you.. but the vibro axe dosnt compare to the 2hCurved either.

No 2h weapons do -- bar the powerhammer, which is only viable once you've mastered techniques and finesse.

I find the Cleaver to be far better at the highest swordsman levels. When you get the speed mods that make the weapon speed not matter, the higher min damage of the cleaver lets you do more DPS than the curved sword.

Also, the looks of the cleaver suits my Trandoshan fighter far better than some wannabe samurai sword.

At higher level I prefer the Cleaver. HAM costs hurt you a little less, and the higher min damage is very nice to have. I'd rather be hitting for decent all around damage than hitting for good with one swing and hitting for ridiculously low damage the next. But for the purpose of leveling, you can't beat the curved sword.

If I had something really clever to say it would be in my signiture instead of this.

Cleaver. Kaizer and Flesh are right. The speed doesn't matter at master level and the better minimum damage makes all the difference. I only use a hammer if I run up against something that is weak to blast damage.

As a master, I prefer a quality crafted cleaver that's been damage sliced. Mine is 3.4 SPD and 180 - 298 damage. I hit the speed cap and the damage is very consistent. The curved is a very good novice weapon though, because of the high damage and fast speed.

i havent used a cleaver as of yet, but i would have to say go with the cleaver, the curved sword kills my action, i can drain my action down to almost nothingwhen i kill a single giant peko peko while using the curved sword, and draining any ham down to anywhere less than half causes alot of downtime. or possibly getting incaped, or killed.

Curved sword .. and when you get higher... use a hammer , but keep the CS around for the right situations.

I have a 2-Handed Curved Sword, about 50-230 damage, 2.6 speed. Not sliced.

I have a Cleaver, about 100-220 damage, 2.7 speed. Speed was sliced.

Both are medium Armor Piercing, and both are Kinetic. Wound Chance is very close, though greater on the Cleaver. HAMs... I'm not sure.

Bottom line: I wasn't very impressed with the Cleaver's stats... should I try to get one damage buffed instead? Even then, I'd be speed 3.4 (or so), and damage no greater than 290 on a PERFECT damage slice. I don't think it's worth it, when my Sliced Hammer is right behind at 480 damage and 4.3 speed-sliced.

Can anybody comment on the Cleaver vs. 2-Handed Sword thing? I'll need to use one to get up to Novice, so I'm curious what you guys and gals recommend. ~J

They are quite similar I think. But I would prefer 2hCS vs Cleaver beacause of the speed and style.

I suggest you begin with a 2hCS and then you pass on Cleaver.

Ah, what a question... As a weaponsmith I get to make all the toys I want as best as can be....

That being said... I loooove the look of the Cleaver.. and the higher minimum damage is great... More evenly distributed HAM costs on the cleaver (Totals are about the same between Cleaver and 2h Curved but the 2H curved has a sharp spike on action IIRC -- you really feel it when doing specials)... all in all I like the cleaver better... but for right now I use a rancor tooth enhanced 2h curved sword for most (damage sliced 352 MAX on 18% slice =D) ... will make myself a rancor'd cleaver next I think.
