Ok the obvious is that Fencers use their swords with one hand and Swordsmen with two. I am also pretty sure that Fencers can attack fasterand Swordsmen have more powerful attacks (not sure though). Any other info would be great. Thanks.

Fencers dodge, we "absorb" damage. Fencers get fd, we get bleeds.

Fencers get "fd" what is this? Fencers also get bleeds.

The difference:

Fencers specialize in 1h weapon use, and have special attacks that target the health pool. Fencers have higher overall defense, but lower over all damage per hit. They seem to have been created with a mind set of personal combat (1 on 1). Their special damage option other than kinetic is stun. Their highest armor peircing value is 1, with most weapons being AP0.

Heavy Swordsman is a profession that specializes in 2h weapon use, and have special attacks that target the the mind. Heavy Swordsman have lower defense, but much higher per hit damage. With the focus of some of their specials. Heavy Swordsman seem to have a design focus of area/multiple targets much more so than fencers. Their special damage option other than kinetic is blast. Their highest armor peircing value is 2, and it seems many of their weapons have this.

Speed at master really isn't a big deal as with the right weapon even a master heavy swordsman can swing at 1 second. I am not sure however about special move speed for the 2h users.

Fencers have bleeds too, Val. They bleed the health pool while we bleed the mind pool. Fencers attack faster but their attacks are weaker. They are much better at avoiding damage and state changes(dizzy, KD, posture change, etc.). They only have light armor piercing tho where as we have medium armor piercing.

Don't let the 1 handed stuff fool you, Fencers are a tough lot to contend with, even when your a Master Swordsman............their KD, Dizzy, and bleeds make them more rounded than Swordman, but when you hulk smash someone in the head for that nice mind pool damage, its worth it...........

I've seen a lot of people taking up Swordsman because they see us hit NPCs for absorbant amounts of damage, but for some quirk of nature, we don't hit even close to that on PCs...........so i've seen quite a few Swordsman give up after making Master just because we aren't the damage dealers they thought we were...........Commandos still do more damage, i was hit by our resident Commando for 5K damage with full Composite on..........

If you have the skill points picking up a little of both is a nice way to go. As mentioned swordsman have awesome damage output but little defense and hardly any status effects. Fencers however have nice defenses and some of thier specials can compliment swordsman very nicely.

I'm almost a master two handed swordsman now, and slowly working up the defense tree of fencer, can't wait to see how that area dizzy compliments area posture changes.

Wait wait wait... back up. You were hit by a Commando for 5k in full composite? Er, when and how? PvP damage is 25% of normal, which makes 5k into a 20k hit. On top of which, composite will block at LEAST half of a flamethrower's damage since they are ap0. So that means it must have been a 40k hit. No commando weapon, not the flamethrower and none of the consumable weapons can do anywhere near that damage, even on an enemy that is kd'ed, as that adds about 50% damage.

The damage is so high that even if you were kd'ed and his attack hit an "armor hole", there is still no weapon that does that much damage.

So, uh, how?

I dunno about that,I landed headhit3 on a bounty hunter for 2600+ damage, and half of her mind bar turned into black! We had a good laugh about it.

I think they are reading the damage in the combat window instead of the true damage over the target's head.

Combat window damage is useless for the most part.

I can be doing 1200 kinetic damage (as a fencer)per seething bol in the combat window when in reality I'm only doing 100 a hit after armor and resistances are taken into consideration.
