Thread: Advice for a Wookiee Swordsman?
Well, I had gotten to a template that I like very much...
MScout
MCH
MRifleman
NMedic
And I got bored since I didn't have anything to work on
So, I decided to try a melee profession that was at least a little complimented by my rifle... Dropped trapping to get some skill points, got NBrawler, bought a heavy axe, 3 curved swords, and had them sliced. One sword was sliced for speed.
Got to the second skill box, so that I could use my nice new shiny sword andtried it out a couple of times before the server went down.... Liked it!
Now! onto my questions...
1.) Am I just wasting time by trying to melee as a non-armor wearing person?
2.) Do the shield generators work worth-a-darn? Should I try them?
3.) Will/would the defence mods make enough of a difference?
4.) I have gotten pretty used to mowing down just about anything that I want to, can the same be said for a Wookiee Swordsman?
5.) I don't mind a tough fight, but I also don't want to 'have' to get buffed just to be able to stand my ground. Am I going to have to change my attitude if I want to continue with this?
6.) Would there be a better melee profession for a wookiee?
7.) Rifles weren't amazing until I hit Master, does the same hold true for Swordsman?
I am sure that I am asking a couple of questions that are answered in different threads, so if you feel like I am beating a dead horse, please tell me, and I will look harder. I just didn't see some of these points touched on for at least 10 pages of topics.
Thank you for your time.

Master Doctor
I am a wookie swordsman on the tarq server.
I was once a rifleman, and now I'm a master heavy swordsman, and 40k away from master ch. Before COB came out, fighting was hard to do solo. But now, with COB, and master, I can solo fs npc's and graul maulers..as long as I get just one.
Dabbling into some other melee classes for def mods isn't a bad idea, I just haven't done it myself. But in any case, I have been one shotting rebel npc's since I was 0/2/3/2 in swordsman. I now have started using food in battle to help me out, and occasionally spice, if my master doctor roommate isn't around. I will eventually be going mater doctor/master heavy sword.
So at a master level you can COB, warcry and intimidate and you should be just fine. Not wearing armor and increased stats will reduce your special costs too. You may also want to master brawler, the increased warcry time can really save you.
It's going to be a long hard road without armor. Even with buffs you'll have a rough time especially when you're just starting out.
I really recommend relying on buffs if you plan to take on tougher opponents. It'll keep you alive until the devs come out with wookie armor.

I am a wookiee swordsman on Bria and have been for a while. Due to managing the WOOK PA and other things I've been taking my time with it and having a blast. I'm 2 boxesin defense away from master. Lack of armor hurts sometimes, but remember that armor has it's own movement penalties etc... and our specials/weapons alread take HAM down.
Buffing is definitely the way to go against the really nasty stuff and PSG's are getting better all the time-I've been getting messages like "creature x hits Na-Weobo for 100 points of damage. Personal sheild Generator prevents 75 of that damage" and the like. Being able to use at least stim B's is a blessing as well.
CH is definitely the way to go for you- having a pet out in front taking the brunt of the damage is great.
Give it a try- hope you like it!
