I just recently started up the swordsman tree (1-1-1-1), already having rifleman it seems to be a deadly combination. But I need help figuring out what all of these specials do, I've got lunges, sweeps, area attacks, mind hits, head hits and I have no idea what the best strategy is to use them all. Or even what they all do (except for the little generic description it gives you in game).

I like to PvP alot and using the same strategy I was with npc's I was doing only 56 damage! Is there any good swordsman sites out there I might check out? Or any advice someone would give as to what the best strategy is to take out melee vs. ranged PC's?

Thanks in advance for your help

I am a relatively new Swordsman myself... 0-1-0-2... but with this set of boxes I have gotten 1) a mind bleed 2) a mind pool attack. What I do is begin combat is send in my pet tanks, then charge in with my mind pool bleed. Once the bleed hits, I start hitting the mind pool with head hit attacks. This combined with my pets attacking usually kill anything very quickly. I've been hanging around on Dantooine killing Pickets in this manner. They fall in front of me in about 20-30 seconds. Very easy.

Oh... i guess I should tell you that I use a Gaping Spider Hunter and a Grand Wrix as my 2 hunting pets. As a Master Creature Handler I have these 2 out at the same time. The poison attack from my Gaping Spider Hunter also helps in the health drain. Coupled with my Novice Pistoleer skills, which gives me 2 more bleeds (Health), I am able to attack either the Health or the Mind pool directly. Depends on the situation though, and how vulnerable the attackee is to certain attacks.

As a rifleman/swordsman combo you have devasting abilities for mind hits. I would get every mind hit and head hit you can. Then pull out your rifle and pop something with a mind bleed from 64m, prolly pull of one more mind hit too. When they get close pull out a Powerhamer and mind bleed them again. The bleeds will stack and they should go down in no time.

Be wary of your ham though, rifleman and swordsman have the biggest specials cost so you'll be draining both your mind and health incredibly fast. Use food and buffs and probably no armor as you'll incap yourself to quickly.

well go up technqiues first. its the best tree head hit 3 is what you'll still use at master as well as your 2 mind bleeds (stack'em).

area attacks hits for about a 7m radius posture down (amazing animations) and area attack 2 does the same. area attack 3 is good because although it says area blind it does area dizzy. combine this with a few spin attacks (better posture down then area attacks) you have a dizzied kd'd mob for the killing.

use warcry a lot and intimidate a lot
