Hi all im kinda new to swordsman I masterd it on my alt about 3 weeks ago. My temp with that alt is:
Masterswordsman
smugler 0010
medic 0040
pistoler 000(3 or 4) but i think four
master brawler
As you can see my defences are high against melee and it shows when I fight a kryat dragon juvinile. When fighting one intimidateed I take 12-35 dmg with 83% comp armor on
However I run in to a problem fighting kryat canyon dragons. I take 83-200 dmg when its intimidated, wich is the same as when I fight a antcient kryat dragon.
I was wondering if this is normal, or if my chars defences may be bugged

Melee defence doesn't make a difference to how much damage you take, only how often you get hit.. I'm not 100% on the mechanic but it goes something like - enemy attacks (enemy's accuracy mod) vs (as Swords) Counterattack, then Melee defence - if your combined primary and secondary def mods outweigh the enemy's Accuracy, you don't get hit. IF you do get hit, then your toughness mod with chosen weapon, and Melee Mitigation skill levelcushions some of the damage you take, as does Intimidate (60% is it? Or 40%? I can never remember
). Armour takes care of the rest of the damage, so being hit for between 70-200 dmg vs Krayts is normal.. here's the catch - Krayts, Nightsister Elders any really high level mob, will hit you EVERY time it tries to because they have a huge accuracy mod, meaning it totally bypasses your melee defence and counterattack mod. The Juvie Krayts don't have such a high accuracy mod because they're not as high level as Canyon/Giant/Ancient Krayts. Same with Nightsister Stalker/Sentinels, right up to Spellweavers and Protectors, your melee def/Counterattack skills will have some effect on keeping you alive.. But meet an Elder and she's gonna smack you every single time she wants to because she's a helluva lot better at hitting you than you are at avoiding her attacks. Try damage reducing foods like Synthsteak if you're really struggling, but if you have 80% Kin Res Composite and some stims you should be able to cope with an Intimidated Krayt dragon of any flavour, unless you get pinned by KD/Dizzy for a long time

Weird I been wearing 80% suits and I been doing fine so I don't think its the armor. States must be stacking real heavy on you. I read that sometimes you get kd'd and remain standing but still take on damage as if you were on the ground. Who knows it can be many things.

That's because the giant krayt KD'd you twice. First one knocked you down, then the second "popped" you back up to standing.
To the first poster, always use intim 2. It reduces the damage by a ton. Also, have a CoB macro going, that'll help as well.
