Great tip! I've also found this is a good strategy for social mobs. Hit one mob with the DoT, and when his friends come running hit as many of them as you can. A spraystick works well here if you can targetthe mobs fast enough. Equip your sword, get one whack on each of them, then kill the ones you didn't DoT or head for the hills. The only problem is if you've got a slow weapon or the mobs you are fighting are too weak, the DoT will kill them before you can get a sword hit in.

Since there's a few people out there going with the Rifle/Sword combo I figured I'd post this tip.

I leveled up my rifle skill first and now I'm working on 2-sword xp. I worked on rifle xp at various langlatch camps on Lok since they move slowly I can kite them around. I noticed while doing this that if I used only the mindshot bleed I wouldn't get rifle xp, only combat xp. As long as I hit the langlatch once with a regular shot or headshot, I'd get the rifle xp too.

The same concept works for any other type of xp. In this case we want 2-H sword xp. So you mindshot the langlatch until you get a nice 500'ish dmg/tick bleed and then whack it with your sword once. Then, kite the langlatch around until it dies. You get all 2-H Sword xp even though the mindshot did all the damage.

Of course, this is only really useful if you don't already have the 2-H Sword Mindhit.
