I heard that Armor wasn't really necessary for a Swordsman, though I rather not find out the hard way. Anyone at all?

The only armor really needed for a swordsman is a helmet because we usually have such a hard time restoring our mind pools post fight. Go and pick up some headgear, you might be suprised with the results

Or if you do want to wear armor, get a shield generator, or heavy energy resistant armor (like bone) so when those bastards with guns kite you, you can take there punishment

I'm a Zabrak, I wear full chitin and I like it. It soaks up more damage than the extra special cost makes me take. Maybe I'll change my mind when I get a weapon with better HAM costs and I start using specials more

Being about halfway through swordsman,I have yet to see a decent reason to wear armor. Between 2h meele toughness, intimidate, and a few stimpacks..I've never had much trouble fighting anything that was white, yellow, and stomtimes a red con.

Pretty much my fights go, 50m trap, trap, trap, intimidate, beserk.....hit,hit,hit, heal self, hit, hit, hit dead mob..

Biggest thing i straight up faught was a bull ronto. I didn't need knockdown, dizzy, ect... I just beat on it and healed in between swings and killed it.

I often times go without armor unless I know I'll be fighting something that hurts.. which is when I throw my chitin on. When done with the battle, a few clicks and I'm back to my mad regenerating self.

If you are pvping armor is a MUST. My Chitin armor is a godsend. Just be careful when using specials. But I got a Katana made by a Master on my server that does 50-190 with a 2.3 second delay so I dont need specials that much =)

so for a novice Swordsman like myself I really don't need armour, just have some for backup? I've been wearing bone armor this whole time.............will have to try and fight without it and see what happens.......

I've done alot of back and forth on this. I have a full set of Ubuese armor with decent resists however the secondary pool hits on iit hurt alot when performinig specials. I'm Rodian so I have a great action stats however with the armor on I can't perform too many specials before my actiton bar is sucked dry. With a good medic in the group you can compensate for it however the majority of the time I wear no armor and only my robe. Since I'm going for master doctor as well as master swordsman I rely on my secondary mind pool stats too much to wear a helm as well.

Rule of thumb: PvE no armor unless grouped with a good medic, PvP put your armor on, it will look pretty after you've been pistol whipped 5 times incapped and /deathblow'd.

Seriously though, at this tiime I haven't found armor to be worth the stat hits and am currently contiplating just getting rid of it all together. Hopefully our defense skills will make up for it further up the tree, I'm currently 0010 in swordsman.
