Thread: SWORDSMEN'S ROUND TABLE: Details and experiences regarding the negative modifier
...as it has been already mentioned twice i thought time was due to open a thread about it...![]()
Is it general ?
Is it weapon related ? (vibro axe for example)
Are you all experiencing it?
When using my twohanded curved sword, I almost always see -18 as the to-hit penalty (is that what's it's called? not sure). Sometimes, before the mob moves into it's final position I often see -12 for about a second. There are certain situations where I actually see positive numbers (one example when fighting on a slope, usually when I am downhill) but these also only show for a second before the mob repostions itself and then back to -18.
In combat, I sometimes try to turn or reposition myself to see if I can get a number better than -18.The second thatI move or even just turn in place, my to-hit goes to -50 and then if I'm lucky down to -12 (usually) but the mob always, always changes position and wham, back to -18.
With the -18, and using my sword,I find that Ihit only once out of every 3-4 attempts. However, my Novice Marksman will hit when the modifier is -50, MORE often than once out of 3-4. This seems insane and bothers me no end. Anyone else notice their marksman ability to hit far outweighing their melee, despite the to-hit number?

its a melee wide problem...im tka and i get neg9 to neg18 in my ideal range...
just a guess, but im thinking it may be the same bug that wont allow us to attack dependably, on a moving/kiting, mob...
This changed at some point because I didn't use to see it. Anyhow I'm getting -14 at anything under max range and -50 at or around max range with my 2 hand curved sword that is supposed to have 1/1/1 as a modifier according to it's examine stats. It should be 0 at 3m and like -14 at 5m if anything.
I have seen it jump to +12 when one of my groupmates does a knockdown on a mob but it isn't consistent like the -14 is.
A marksman with a negative 50 misses a lot. They are rarely shooting with negative 50s, because they are prone and, personally, Iaim when I have a bad to-hit.
I bet this penalty is due to the mob moving, which is why it goes away when it's prone. I suspect it has nothing to do with range whatsoever (with 1/1/1 on a curved sword, range shouldn't have any impact at all, should it?).
Also, could this just be a display bug? The +modifier over the head of your target is just asimplified version of the totalto-hit equation. According to one of the loading screens it does not take everything into account, so this very well could just be a display bug of some sort.
