Thread: Is Swordsman for me?
With this game so unbalanced, I'm wondering if Swordsman is actually any good. Do you guys usually win against TKAs and Fencers?
Ivy
Master Heavy Swordsman
Flurry Galaxy
let me put it this way, if your looking for an easy way to kill creatures and looking to kick someones butt in PvP than this profession is defiently not for you. Swordsman are usually the first to go down in a MOB/group situation (granted we do most the of the dirty work) and probably the least supported profession out of them all..........
If your looking to kill things the easy way than go rifleman.............if your looking to stand a chance in PvP than go Bounty Hunter or Pistoleer, if your looking to go the long hard route than Swordsman is for you...........
I'm working towards 2handed swords mastery right now and I'm liking it alot so far. I'm wondering how I'll like it 20 hours of game play from now...
Seawolvz25, "long hard route" to what? Do you not see that route as viable?
What I mean by the long hard route or "path" to becoming Master is because unlike all other professions (with the exception of TK) all of your battles are fought up close and personal while the professions that deal with firearms have the luxury of wimping out in the backrow lobbing off shots while your ass is pounding away on your opponent. You obviously take most of the damage and during the early progression to Master Swordsman you will be incapped probably 3-4 times as much as our firearms brothers.................unless you have a good medic in your group.
In PvP forget about it unless you have a back up profession like Pistoleer, Rifleman, ect or are in a confined space like a cantina, than the odds begin to semi even out, but hardly..............I personally chose this profession because its one of the hardest to obtain with all the upclose battles and I for one love up close battles versus sitting on my ass in the prone position 30 meters away from the target................I get a more gratified feeling when I whoop something with my curved sword versus my FWG5.............plus if I can't be a damned Jedi right now, I'll settle for second best and thats a Sworsman..............
Swordsman is viable for PvP but mostly only in certain situations. Such as already being in close-quarters and getting the first hit off.
I can tell you from experience that a novice swordsman with area attack1 or headhit2 can PvP very well, as long as the other guy isn't wearing some heavy armor and isn't all drugged up on spice or buffed from a doctor.
