Thread: Great idea for expert finesse box

I think we can all agree that the game is balanced around marksmen. And, we have an empty skill box that requires lots of combat xp. So...consider the fact that pistoleers have a melee knockdown move and we have a good starting point.

Expert Finesse box. Sword Toss. When you are in trapping range (~45m) you can hurl your sword at your opponent with a badass overhand toss animation. Naturally this will knock them down and allow you to get in range and pick up your sword before they can stand up again. As for accuracy...let's just say that it will be as accurate as pistoleer moves. We have to keep the game balanced after all.

They should feel free to implement skills for the other melee classes as well...for example, Javelin Throw for pikemen. Teras Kasi masters should be able to shoot a really cool fireball at their opponent.

I wish I was joking...but this is the only thing I can come up with after tons of thought about melee/marksman balance. I thought it was funny at first...then as I thought more I realised I was being serious about it.

Actually you know what I would like to see in that slot?

+10 2 Hand Toughness

Hamstring Cut - This move is a Single target Dizzy and Lowers Posture for less cost than Area attack 3.

What would this do? Give us a knockdown basically. The dizzy goes off first, and then the posture change, bam instant knockdown. Would be great for people who dont want to master brawler for the 15m Knockdown.

Morph, that seems pretty good to me. I understand that they don't want every melee class to have the same specials, but if we have a de facto knockdown (area 3) we should be able to use it on individual opponents without killing ourselves.

I also like the idea of getting some more melee toughness, right now the only way for us to get it is to climb up the Offense tree.

interesting idea, but i have 1 question/problem with it. Are we able to pick stuff up in this game? i have yet to walk over an item and automatically pick it up and equip it.

- I support the proper use of common sense when it comes to re-developing games which are nearly two years into their tenure...evidently this sentiment is not shared by those that finance this game.

Maybe the sword should be attached to a thin metal string... so we can pull it back if we throw it, lol.
