Thread: Has anyone else noticed the dismissive-Dev-trend? -RANT-
Frankly its really rather starting to wear on me.
I play a Martial Artist - A master Brawler who is working on Master Swordsman and Master Teras Kasi, as well as dabbeling a little bit in Fencer. I did this for two reasons:
1) I wanted to branch off from the 99% of players who wanted to go the BH/CH/Pistoleer route (funny how BH is supposed to be one hard to attain class, yet everywhere you look there are three, and the silly unbalances of CH are laughable.).
2) I love the martial arts, and I wanted to, God forbid, theme my character and role-play him as a martial artist.
Now, playing all three melee classes, I'm rather unique in the fact that I am affected by all three melee class' designer updates.
The sickening trend I saw was this:
The Pistoleers, the Bounty Hunters, the Creature Handlers, all of their top issues were how to make a strong class stronger, and the Pistoleers have life so easy they can ask for flashy pistol twirls and holsters! Wow, if that is one of there five TOP ISSUES they must really be having a hard time of it, neh?
AS far as melee goes, we simply get assramed. Ok, new weapons around the table, this is all well and good. But the Devs seem to think its ok that a Pistoleer or Bounty Hunter can sit 40m away, spam their special moves, and suffer little to no HAM cost. On the other hand, they make Swordsmen's special moves more powerful...fun...how the hell does that help me in a pitched battle where I have my back to a wall and my all powerful swordskill fails me becuase I lack the HAM to execute the bloody move that would, otherwise, save my life, had that same move done 2/3 that damage and cost less.
For Teras Kasi, they tell them directly that their specials were not meant to be strung together, back to back. WHAT!? Two things wrong here, the first being that the BH and Pistoleer classes run about pistol whipping things merrily following it with STACKED health shots and body shots, but thats ok, the Devs love them. Secondly, this works for Swordsmen too, since when should a martial artist be unable to string moves together. Thats what martial arts ARE, stringing one powerful swipe of the sword with one powerful parry and complimented by one happy little counterstrike. But, no, we can't string them. That would make too much bloody sense.
And as far as the twisted logic the Devs seem to have, they keep beating us over the head with the fact that you should never bring a knife to a gunfight. Fair enough. Thing is, I've seen people pop a bunny in the face and watch the bunny run away. If the bunny can take a blaster bolt to the forehead and wonder if it got hit, then their logic is already **edit**ed, so ballance the damned classes already.
Lastly, this is STAR WARS. The Swordsmen here don't follow the same rule we do. You'd think after milennia of intermingling spieces, and training in the Sword Arts, that a Master Swordsman or Teras Kasi would have reached some elevate sence of perception, or at least a martial arts prowess so extreme that they could secondguess their oponents movements by watching them shift weight and transfer motion and evade the projectile's trajectory before it is even fired.
But then, none of the Devs will read this. In fact, now that they have my money, judging by their responses to the "top five" issues at hand, they don't even give a **edit** I'm breathing.
