Thread: I've been holocronized....how does this pair with CH?
Welp my holocron has told me to abandon my pistols and hunting of bounties and to instead kill people with big sharp pointy things.
Any tips on how this pairs up with CH? Can your pet stil hold aggro while you are near swinging away?
Thanks in advance for any tips...I'd normally just run a search but the board lag is so horrible that half the time pages time out before I can get the info I needed.
Its a great duo! Thats what I have... M2H and MCH. With the necessary scout and meds skills left over. Some argue Sword and Doctor or Sword and Master Brawler and TKA are good also. But since your CH you'll be king!
You'll come to find that sicking your pet on a mob and then timing when to join in is great fun and very effective. Also.. if your pet can hold out till you recover from an incap that is one of the best advantages. It keeps you from being DBed.
Your good to go! ![]()
I would get doctor instead. As a master doctor and 0/3/1/2 swordsman (i am working on it!) i can solo an ancient bull rancor if i run from it once heh (once i get mind hit 2 i won't have to run at all most likely). Our moves use a good deal of ham and so does tanking. Chances are, if you aren't buffed, you probably won't be wearing armor and that is an extremely bad choice since an ancient bull rancor hits for about 500 damage ANDdoes aarea effect bleed frequently. If you aren't buffed you won't be able to spam specials even wearing no armor. I can spam specials all day long with any of our weapons using any moves because all non mind stats are buffed with D enhance packs and my mind stats are 1100/800/1100 (i love that stat cap change they made lol) if i recall correctly.
oh and another nice thing is that when soloing rancors in the rancor cave, i have yet to be incapped for more than 15 seconds since my regeneration stats are insanely high even with armor on ![]()
hes already a CH though.. he was asking if it's a good choice to stick with ... and it is. But Doctor is great also.
Btw.. some are getting two holos (i know don't laugh .. i haven't gotten one yet) and then remixxing everything... ie: he might get one that says "you must master doctor"

MCH and M2H is a very nice combo...like Solo Krayts nice...
It won't last too long, but 2 mind bleeds and 2 graul maulers on a krayt = you loot the krayt.
And I'm a rebel. Only problem is you can't stand in with the krayt at all...you must bleed and then watch your pets hold it off.
For a lower level CH or Swordsman, the secret is in the distance you are from the mob. I've found that 5m-6m is the safe distance from any small or medium beast, and for large beasts its 8m-16m(krayt). Oh, and your weapon will take that into account too..the power hammer has a little more range than the sword, but both can be used from 5m out. Just send your pets in first, then wack away.
My current build is:
Brawler 0-0-4-0
Scout 4-0-4-0
Marksman 4-4-4-0
Medic 0-0-4-0
CH 4-4-0-0
Pistoleer 0-0-3-0
Swordsman 0-0-0-0
THis is after dumping BH Pistol 4, the comb xp line from MArksman and the trapping and survival lines from scout.
I'm hanging onto to pistoleer, for as long as I can, though honestly I do just as much damage with a good sword...just dont have the spd mods to back it up.
Grab a crappy ol axe and grid through the first box of brawler, then get a good 2hd axe and grind the next box or two, then get a 2hd curved sword and grind on into swordsman, then continue using it and start looking for a good Powerhammer.
Brawler took me like 4 hours or so, without realling trying, would have been less but I was using a shd axe not realizing i didnt get cert for it til first box of 2hd....sigh.
Good luck, it's pretty easy grinding...just monotonous and hills/moving mobs will drive you crazy.
sounds like your gunna be having some fun mate.....
before release Id already decided on being a ch with a big sword
now Im CH 4 4 3 4
hvsword 4 4 3 3
medic 2 0 4 0
and scout 4 4 4 4
which seems to work pretty well using graul to tank and distract enemy you can get in with a few specials on tough stuff for decent exp, I started ch and hvsword about the same time and its been a hard graft but you are in a much better possition to slog your way through it than I was mate so good luck!
just be aware that as your going to be hitting pretty hard the beasties will attack you a lot so buffs are always a good idea
Hi Arden,
I'm also a holocronized swordsman who dropped master pistoleer and kept MCH. In general terms, 2HS is not nearly as good as pistols when paired with your pets. The close range means that you often take a great deal of unexpected aggro, which I was completely unprepared for.
However, I have been able to soften the blow by using a good set of low HAM advanced chitin. In addition, I have developed the reflex to re-task my pets and spam /peace in order to lose aggro as quickly as possible. I also try to inch into combat from 7 meters out in order to stay at maximum range at all times.
With smal pets, like mereks and BDQ's, it's relatively easy to judge the aggro range of your pets. Simply stay behind them and you will never get hit. However, with large pets, suh as maulers and rancors, it's nearly imposible to gauge the distance. You really have to inch your way in to avoid drawing the mob's attention.
One final note, I have noticed that I get far less aggro using 2 or 3 pets than with only one. Basically, this gives you a 50/50 chance of avoiding aggrowhen the mob suddenly decides to switch targets in mid-combat. Good luck!
Yeah getting used to the aggro was difficult...was spoiled with my pistols.
I had a guild mate build me a nice set of kinetic composite (which can be difficult to get on, but it is worth it).
Thanks for the tip about staying behind the pet, I've always just used my pet as a meat shield and blasted away, never had to use any finesse with it until now.
Hadn't thought about using mutliple pets since I am specced tame/train, but might shift points over to manage to get a second.
