Thread: Nerfed again... (sigh)
I'm guessing this is probably my imagination and that the devs did not just nerf the holy heck out of us yet again, but for whatever reason it appears as though the game just got twice as hard (yet again) a couple days ago, and after playing this game since day #4, through all the warts, problems, and bugs, I am now ready to give it up and say to hell with this **edit** game. It's just not any fun anymore.
Now, as a melee type, I accept the fact that PvP is completely and totally off limits for me. I will NEVER be able to take on ANY ranged character (even a novice marksman) without being owned. I DO wish, however, that the whole PvE arena hadn't just beenmade off limits to me as well. I logged on Sunday night with the idea of trying to get another 150 faction points for the next promotion, while also trying to get to a WP to the NE of Nashal that someone had sent me - a place where holocrons were rumored to drop.
Never made it, though. Aside from getting wasted by kimas (I'm 4/4/2/3 in the swordsman profession, and wield a pretty nice sword) that gave out a grand total of 8 (yes, that's EIGHT) two-handed XP (they were dark blue, with a couple whites), I was almost completely unable to take on a single Imperial. Going toe-to-toe with one Imperial stormtrooper (dark blue, by the way - not even white) sent me on the death express every single time, unless I healed myself during the fight. Even then, I only managed to win perhaps 75% of the fights. Whereas I used to be able to wade in like John Wayne and take on three Imps (yellow, even) single-handedly and finish a mission inside of a minute or so (granted, with some wounds, but still...), I am now limited to having to use rifle shots to finish my mission, like so:
1.) FIre a rifle shot (bleed) from 60 meters away, immediately RUN LIKE HELL.
2.) Wait for the bleed to take effect, KEEP RUNNING.
3.) Five minutes later, re-approach, go back to step 1 (repeat 2-5 times).
4.) Continue to repeat steps 1-3 until the Imp is at least 100 meters from his fellow Imps and down to 1/2 mind, then attack with sword, doing nothing but specials (mind hit, followed by head hits). Regular fighting (without specials) led to an extremely quick one-way ticket on the death express.
5.) HEAL REPEATEDLY.
At this rate, I might (if I'm lucky) be able to complete two faction missions in four hours. If I'm supposed to be a melee character, what in God's name is the benefit to being a melee character? Is there any?
Is there any chance the devs will STOP ALREADY with the nerfing, OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER? Why can't they just leave the **edit** profession alone, and let us have SOMETHING decent to hold on to? I don't want to be tougher than everyone else out there, and I don't necessarily want to compare myself to anyone else (other than other swordsmen, perhaps). But I would like to be able to SURVIVE for more than 10 minutes at a time. I would like to get more than EIGHT lousy XP for a creature that is tough enough to annihilate me half the time I fight him, and I'd like to have a realistic option for completing faction missions. Is this too much to ask?
but before you quit, think about when they add range to us so that we can hit while running, and do you have a pet. even a non ch one would work.
also, do you like rifleman?? i used to be the same combo, and didnt enjoy it much, so i went carbineer and get a ranged knockdown, so i use that and stormies are easy. of course i just dropped doctor and carbineer for smuggler and tka, but ill still have a raanged knockdown to compliment my swordsman abilities (low blow).
well, other than that, i kinda know your pain man. when i logged on once and like half my inventory was gone, and i did some faction missions without my carbine. i never died in the 5 or so i completed, but it was tough.
hm, really dont know.
You can still 2-shot a rifle-stormtrooper with powerhammer. Its hard if they run, lunge seems to work only half the time. But it is possible.
-Use intimidate and warcry, get a shirt with bonus to both for better success chance.
-Get another armor with higher energy effect for faction missions (or clothes with defefense if wookie).
-use tatooinean sunburn
there is a lot you can do.
