Thread: Some General Questions on this profession

Hi all,

Just wanted to ask a few questions about this profession before I get into it too deeply.

1. How is this profession in PvP vs. PvE? Are there any professions that will typically wipe the floor with us?

2. How effective are the area effect attacks in the swordsman tree?

3. Can a swordsman really solo an AT ST? I know the PH is awesome, but there is the whole factor of getting close enough to the AT ST to begin the attacks...just curious and would like to hear about some different play styles.

4. I would also like some opinions on what other classes compliment this one. I just got into novice ch last night, but I don't want to waste much time with it if it will end up being a waste in PvP. (Yes, my ultimate goal is PvP )

Thank you all for your time answering this.

Heya, welcome to Swordsman Forums

1. In PvE we're pretty amazing. We probably have the highest damage output of any profession (My strongest hit being 23k

In PvP, as with any melee class, the "Out of Range" server lag issue pretty much gimps us vs ranged characters. Its just a matter of being smart about it. Hiding behind stuff, waiting for a diversion, etc.

Running straight into a BH will obviously see you dead in seconds.

Against other Melee, as it stands, TKA's totally own all of us. They have so many advantages, I dont even know where to begin.

2. The area attacks are pretty cool for levelling to master quickly. You can run up to a nest and spam Spin or Area, and kill everything in a couple hits. With the Posture change nerf on our area attacks though, they've become pretty much useless.

3. Yes, we can solo at-st's. I've lost count of how many i've destoryed since the patch (Using a graul to hide behind ofcourse).

4. CH goes nicely with Swordsman, although after the patch, we should be able to tank alot better, making pets less useful.

Doctor also goes very nicely. Being able to keep yourself constantly buffed is great.

You can also Master Brawler for the 2hLunge KD and other extra skill-mod and move bonuses.

If you want a ranged class to go with that, the Rifleman Mind attacks pair nicely with our own. But the ranged Carbineer KD is the most useful I think.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info Syg. I have been reading through some of the other threads and I guess I will have an advantage in that since I am just starting to play this profession, the changes shouldn't hurt me too much. I would have liked to have seen more replies with some different play styles, but oh well.

If it were up to me, I'd put all profession "Uber" moves in the Mastery box....death to the dabblers!
