I've heard some people say thatDefense modsno longer stack and some say they still do. So im not sure whether it was nerfed or not.And the Scythe schematic is on live servers but the components to make it aren't. Well, the componentsshouldn't be obtainable at least. I think the only one actually made thus far was on Radiant.

Edited because I was talking on the phone while typing this.

Nope. Defense stacking is still in.

Thanks for the info StGabe, do you have an idea about what the future of defense stacking is? There has been a lot of rumors and some indirect comments from the devs, but nothing specific I know of.

If you know anything about it, please let us know. I don't know if the devs understand how big of an issue this is.

lol its really not that big of an issue, if u wanna spend all of your SP and time on mastering 2 combat professions then you should reap the benefits. If u wanna be a strick PvP then stack, and if ur smart u can beat a stacker without stacking...we have very few SP left. if u wanna be decent at PVP and still have a craft prof go smuggler/pisto. i think if u wanna spend ur time and money on strict combat so be it, dont complain and ruin it for those who enjoy the benifits of their time.

I wasn't complaining about it, nor do I think I said anything that would lead you to believe I was. I'm just asking if he knows what's going to happen. Truth is I very recently had a stacking template myself, but dropped it cause I got feeling this is getting nerfed, I just wanna know for sure.

Whether it should or not is irrelevant if the devs either: don't care, made up their minds already or don't tell us anything. All we know for sure is that people are mad on both sides, and one guy even got banned accidently because they thought he was exploiting.

I don't have direct answers either but I can give you my own personal and possibly flawed impression of what is likely.

I think that the devs want to keep stacking in at least in some form. It is certainly intended that if you spend skill points in multiple professions that you will reap rewards from this. What is not intended is that these rewards will make you virtually unhittable or that these rewards will be particularly inconsistent or lead to obvious templates.

Specifically for defenses I wouldn't be surprised if defense stacking gets yanked altogether before the combat revamp (although they could well stay in until then as well). At some point I think that we'll see defensive stacking in some manner that provides reasonable returns for investment without creating obvious templates or unbalancing combat unduly.

Templates are cool and the idea isn't to get rid of them altogether (at least so I think, I'm doing a lot of extrapolating and hand-waving here) it's just that there should be a wide variety of templates and none that are unquestionably better than all (or the vast majority of) others.

Yeah what he said. I doubt they will take stacking away all together, probably a hard cap like on some stuff we have now, or a soft cap of some kind. Either seem like an a-ok idea for me.
