Thread: An AIM-like ability for swordsmen.... Thumbs up or thumbs down

Aye its definately needed for melee, but I don't think it belongs with Swordsman. Its more of a "Finesse" based move that a Fencer would use.

I see us more as Damage-Dealers. We need moves more like Center of Agression and Berserk3 to represent that.

Hrmm Center of Agression and Berserk 3... sign me up for that!


While we're at it, let's toss Sweep 2 out the window andget Spin 3 (w/ area intimidate), and Mind hit 3 at the master box.


Level 3attacks= 4 tehwin.

Hey that center of aggression thing is pretty good idea actually. You should probably follow that up.

Did you miss the part about adding the focus score to damage at higher levels?? at a master level that would add like +110 to the damage (the way i have is set up) of a swing... not to mention 110% to WOUND and COUNTER ATTACK...

now THAT would hurt

I think you glanced to quick and judged to rash but thats very damaging indeed.

Also include that +110 damage to a hit3 or headhit3 with a powerhammer... and if theyve been knocked down... thats like an instant kill. We can allread fump an NPC with a 5-7k if theyre knocked down. That would send that number through the roof.

but at master rank it would take 6 seconds for this hit to happen... but when it did you'd chop somthing down HARD...

While counter attacking like mad when your charging... So save Berzerk and intimidate for the MASTER BRAWLERS... we're swordsmen and it DOES take more finesse to weild a sword.

Sweep is junk...get rid of them... Maybe replace with an AIM-like ability that stores up accuracy(and damage at higher levels) then KA-SLASH! remember L5R???
Call this "FOCUS ABILIES"

"Focus" abilities should still charge while being able to counter attack...
ALSO should be able to use the "charge" comand while running
To utilize the FOCUS 4 ability, you must use CHARGE COMAND 5 CONSECUTIVE TIMES.
Scaling down to Novice who can only charge once.

Focus tree should mabye look somthing like this:

Novice swordsman Sword focus +10 (adds focus score to counter attack 4.0 delay)can charge 1 time (GAIN CHARGE ABILITY)
Focus 1 +20 to focus (acurate striking)can charge 2wice

Focus 2 +20 to focus (shortens time between next Charge 3.0 delay)can charge 3 times

Focus 3 +20 to focus (Adds focus score to damage) can charge 4 times

Focus 4 +20 to focus (Adds focus score to WOUND CHANCE 2.o delay) can charge 5 times

Master +25 to focus (focus at a MAX of 2.0 delay) can charge 6 times


Just a thought...
Its new, its original... and This ability can be cloned in some way for other melee classes....

But this can solve RENDUDANT MOVE problems...and acuraccy / defense problems too, while adding uniqueness and SHATERINGLY powerful hits

Berserk 2 is the most useless skill in the game berserk 3 would suck even worse.

My idea... Give the Swordsman an ability to Berserk a target...


Example:


Swordsman attacks a Master Fencer. Swordsman knows that the Fencer will be really hard to hit if he uses Center of Being. Swordsman uses a special Berserk Target attack. This attack applies the Berserk state to the enemy making it impossible for the enemy to use any specials for a short period of time.


Maybe this attack doesn't necessarily belong to the Swordsman class, but it would make a cool melee attack for some profession.

Not if it provided a 50% damage bonus and allowed specials, it wouldn't. Think outside the box for a moment

That would be the day they let you go berserk and use specials, come on that is so unrealistic. Even if you think outta the box its totally absurd.
