Thread: low hanging fruit gabe have you checked on getting more scythe schematic uses?

Generally I look for openings to bring up different concerns. If I have one specific to Scythes I will definitely give it a full pitch.

I have brought this up (and will continue to do so) but it appears that there won't be very much change here until after the combat balance as weapons might be effected. My options for pushes are more along the lines of looking at smaller'ish things that aren't working in the combat system (broken specials, broken abilities, etc.).

cool thanks!
Ithink for the scythe to truely be worth the effort and low uses would be to have:
a. make it heavy AP
b. give it a diffrent effect (cold i think would be the best - a player poll to decide)
one or the other, or both.
Iknow i made a post on what some swordsman would like to see the scythe do as far as a diffrent effect besides kinetic.
the problem is we just need more varity in our attacks - we have SO many kinetic weapons as it is.
giving the scythe a special effect would really make a lot of people happier about the weapon imo.

a lucky swordman can make up to 8 scythes, he only needs 2 scrolls, and 4 sets of 6 identical sword cores (all 6 looted from the same mob). Obviously strange things like several accounts can increase the number of scythes.
If you want to make your own sword cores, you must be even more lucky, cos you need 2 scrolls,4 sword core schems, and 4 sets of 7 identical power cubes and (optional) 4 sets of 7 identical solidifying agents.
That is tooooo much luck or a loooot of camping...
I have spent 4 sessions of 3 hours camped as a rifleman (AoE attacks, a lvl 66 pet and 3500 dmg per sec) and i only got 2 sets of 6 identical sword cores and, obviously, of the worst quality.
It has two consecuences...
Scythes are very expensive
High quality scythes are more than difficult to make.
not to say that, altough Ibecame very happy when i got my first 3 swords, the fourth was for my WS guildmate... imagine if you dont have a WS friend... it costs you 2...
but they are great... small hammers+high speed
i love them...

and riflemen - who don't even need a better weapon - have limitless uses and all they have to do is put in 2 door codes and talk to an npc.
sure they need the componets - but they can get common drops and get as many slices as they like.
If it was something exceptional like say Mandalorian armour then fine, but a flash sword ? Really.

I just don't like the idea of limited use and limited resources to make them.
1 or the other is fine, but not both
Welcome to my world. Er…other world. All of the looted tailor schematics are set up this way. Granted, they're 3-use per scroll, and I was pretty surprised to learn that the scythe is only 2-use. Seems we (you? only been heavy sword for 5 days now, but I'm loving it) should get a smidge more from this. While we're on the subject, why is the core schematic 5-use (haven't verified personally, read it someplace) while the blade is 2-use? Makes no sense.
the devs and comman sense are rarely found in the same building
Aren't coldresists right up there with blast resists on most Composite?
I still think we need a passive ability to % chance to critical strike.

Yup. For standard, unlayered composite you've got an electricity special resistance, then acid/heat/blast/restraint/cold/kinetic/energy effectivenesses. The only standard vulnerability is stun. And if you know a masterarmorsmith with vertex crystaline gemstone and crism ciliclastic ore you won't even have that (stupid crism, spawn! Hehe.) So really, the best damage type to use is stun and hope whoever you're whacking doesn't have stun-layered composite. But to me that's pretty boring, I mean if we all used stun weapons what would be the point in having any other type? Maybe a critical strike % would be good…or, what I've always wanted to see, AP scaling up damage when it's higher than AR. (I.e. FinalDamage = InitialDamage X (1 + ((AP - AR) / 2)) or something like that…so AR2 versus AP1 would be: FinalDamage = InitialDamage X 1.5)
(While we're on the topic of damage types, is there actually a restraint-damage weapon in-game? I can't remember ever seeing one…)

i wanna know why riflemen keep getting more and more dmg types while we get jack **edit**.
Could be a changes-in-passes thing. Look at pistoleers, they've had stun/acid/heat/energy/kinetic since forever. Riflemen are now being brought into line with that. Carbineers have energy/acid/heat, maybe they're next. I dunno. Guess I'm just holding out hope that this is a "we can only do so much at one time thing."
