About to grind Swordsman. I will have enough combat xp to get the first 3 boxes which will allow me to wield a scythe. Should I spend the extra cash and try to get a scythe or should I use the powerhammer, bought one that has 4.0 speed 137-470 with -23 accuracy mods. So my question is should I use the hammer I just bought or pay for a scythe which will cost me 500k plus?

I did heavy axe to Twohanded 1, twohanded axe to Twohanded 2, twohanded curved sword to Twohanded 4, twohanded cleaver to Novice Swordsman, and since then I've been using a powerhammer. Just kept buying 'em 'till I got a 35% speed slice on one (2 32%s as well) then made a whole mess of 16.17% speed/32.83% mind powerups. The 35% speed slice comes out to be a 2.9 speed when powered up, and wow is it fun to swing. (I can run an average of 8 Huurton Huntress lairs during the 39.5 minute duration on my brandy, including time-to-target and time to find two missions in the same direction)

And just for the record—yes I am grinding, but not for a holo. Hunting Krayt tomorrow night and I want to have mastered before I do. I intend to hang onto Swordsman for a good long time—it's the most fun I've had in combat in a while.

I dont want to brag its not my deal. But take it from someone who did the entire swordsman (started at 0-0-0-3) in less then 5 hours. Get a scythe and a hammer for backup), get some powerups and go to endor and kill everything that has over 8k hams (+ crazed gurreks 5k ham).

Dont forget to team up with a pet.

+ Get your head hist first .. then go for the area attack.

G'Luck

Yours,

If your Holo Grinding and/or Money is of no concern, like it is with Alot of people these days, Thena few goodscythe will master you the fastest. If you are financialy challenged like me then Look for a Realy nasty high damage Curved sword(read around)and some powerups, if they don't exist on your server then Powerhammer

*sigh* pressed enter too early.

Because as far as i could tell the damage was pretty much the same, only a cleaver is faster and doesn't get those nasty low hits like 2h curved's do.

Mine got a 27% speed slice and is 1.9 speed. It is powered up for about 250 damage. I am 0/0/3/0 Brawler and have found that gettin buffed and heading to the entrance of the KraytGraveyards gets you loads of XP. Banthas, Eopies, and Dragonets all con red, but 5-6 Head Hits puts 'em down fast for 800-1000 XP per.

The average curved on my server: 2.5, 60ish - 250ish damage

The average cleaver on my server: 3.4ish, 100ish - 220ish

I did all the grinding with a curved sword.

I wouldn't say money is of no concern to me (although outfitting my vendor-placing toon to actually fight was pretty expensive) but I did give my Scythe a try. It was just a wee bit too efficient. With the speed slice and a speed powerup (which I made to use with my hammer) I wiped out the Huurton Huntress lairs before they could pop the last spawn (whoops!) So it was either unpowered Scythe, which I did for a while, or my hammer, which I also did for a while. Love them both, couldn't pick between 'em. I can't wait to give 'em a swing now that I've mastered.

Before I started Swordman I did the scythe quest twice, had them made..one got down to 1.4 speed and used that pretty much the whole time in Endor (started out 0003 in swordman cause of all my combat xp saved up also)..sometimes I would switch to my hammer if they had more blast vulnerability..but really loved my speed sliced scythe Took me 2 days to get master (don't know how someone could take 5 hrs but ok..)

Power hammer is good when you get good speed and accuracy mods the blast damage type means you can find some good mobs that don't have high resists for blast.

But they aren't worth using straight away.
