Well I decided to change from being a Pistoleer to becoming a Swrodsman and I instantly noticed a huge difference in the forums. Pistoleer is pretty much a broken profession so all I see are posts about petition on trying to fix the prof.
Kinda refreshing to be on a forum where everyone is pretty much happy about the state of the profession. Really looking forward to hitting Master to see what type of damage I can start inflicting on my enemies.

Hello all. This is my first time joining the Swordsman forums. I've been a Pistoleer since launch, and I've grown tired of the profession. I've also recently left my guild so I'm looking for a sturdy profession that I can go solo with and still feel comfortable. After reading up, I've decided that Swordsman sounds right for me.
I've read through the stickys and have not found the answer to this question so I apologize if it has been asked and answered before. What is the best way to go about becoming a Master Swordsman? What are the best weapons to use (from Novice Brawler and up) to acheive the most amout of xp for each level? And lastly, from Novice Swordsman, what order of the trees would you recommend climbing?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

In a nutshell ..
1) Start with heavy axe
2) As soon as you qualify (which is pretty early on 2 handed brawler) get a speed sliced curved sword
3) You will race to Novice Swords pretty quickly with a curved sword
4) Obtain a scythe when you qualify for it as a novice swordsman
5) Go up the speed tree (can't remember which one this is!)
6) The combat xp required will take care of itself as you grind it out (at least you probably have lots of excess combat xp fro pistoleer)
7) No need to use a power hammer at all, thing isn't quick enough for grinding usually until you finish the speed tree
8) Always use speed-sliced weapons if this is possible!
9) Quenkers are now your best friends
Very rough guide, I'm sure others can flesh out more details!

I agree with everything except the scythe since I don't believe you get the cert for it until 2 or 3 boxes in the finesse tree. Correct me if I'm wrong? That being the case, unless you have enough combat xp built up to get those boxes, I would start with a speed sliced power hammer or use a 2 handed cleaver until you have finished the speed tree. Good luck, you will love swords!
