Thread: Toughness and PSG vs Mellichae and his saber

I soon will be ready to confront Mellichae and I was wondering a few things. I decided to go Master Swords for the medium armor piercing, and possibly rifleman for heavy AP. I was curious to know if Swords toughness has any effect against a lightsaber and how much if so. I also was considering a PSG if they have any lightsaber resist capability. Essentially I am trying to determine the best defensive setup while still maintain the ability to inflict some damage. I also would like to have a good estimate or calculation on the inbound damage I will have to deal with. I am still not sure of my complete template, whether to pick up medic or doc, or feign death. I heard his specials hit for 4k. If toughness is any use, I may start collecting skill tapes if there are any. I want to try him solo a couple of times, asI think a solo victory would be one of the best moments to be had in the game. After about 3 failed attempts I suppose I will recruit a small army to put him down with a vengence, but I want to try it the hard way first. Anyone have any useful information that they can share? Our toughness does work against lightsabers... As for PSGs, they have LS resists, but only right when they are pulled out of a crate... the moment you cross a server border they lose the resists.
Oh, and don't try to solo him, it's an excercise in futility. For one, he has a bunch of little lackeys (including another named who, while not using a LS, does near the same damage as Mellichae) and will heal himself unless you take out his power crystals first... during which time he can beat on you. I think the longest I tanked him was about 3 minutes but I had to constantly heal myself and probably would have died before I killed him (using an 870 max PH as well).

if you want to solo him,
MASTER RIFLE
CONCEAL SHOT
NUF SAID
he is real tough, easyest way to solo him is with conceal shot....
and since you were thinking of going either swordsmen or riflemen, swordsmen will have a tough time to solo him ie his light saber... rifle is the easy way

and on the psg's
light sabers have ap2
if you have a psg equiped the armor pearcing kicks in
meaning your 47%psg is not about 10-20% lightsaber psg
if you were to try swordsmen i would suggest
light saber psg
synthedic steak
feigh death *to heal up*
no compo or any other type of armor after his mobs.... *to reduce encumbrance*
and pray he doesnt use to many specials

I am currently considering Master Swords/Master Rifle. Any template I do will have the feign death in there for insurance. I was considering removing the armor prior to fighting him, after I pick of his henchman. Maybe try rifle with conceal shot until he comes at me then switch to swords, hopefully hit him with a mind bleed and feign death real quick. Not sure how that would work after the first attempt at feign death. When I get back up he might be right on me again. If not back to conceal shot. I know if he is still bleeding and I get up he will be after me. What does meleed defense do anyway, I believe it provides less chance of getting hit but is there some kind of math behind it, such as at +100 you only have a 50% chance of getting hit per attack? Also though about commando, use fire DOT and feign. Repeat.

Mellichae is about 55k Ham medium armor with 80% resists has a lightsaber and has about 8 henchmen. One is about 20k or better ham with same armor and resists and uses regular weapons, named Daktar I believe. Mellichae is the dark jedi that stands between you and padawan once you complete your FS skill box requirements. I hear he is one of the most enjoyable fights in the game, though something of a challenge depending on your situation.

Can you have groupies when fighting him? If so I want someone on Ahazi about to fight him to give me a call

Yes you can have a group and I think as long as you are within range and not dead when Mellichae is killed then its a mission success. I just tested Master Rifleman/Master Swordsman with Dirty Fighting 1 and composite armor with buffs on TC-Ahazi. Pretty decent template. Only fought a force crystal hunter as far as upper level NPCs, but he has the same stats basically as Daktar, and the same armor resists as Mellichae. He was wounded from a fight he won against someone else. I just finished him off. But I was able to coneal shot him for a bit then switched to scythe and finished him off. Never had to feign death. So its say to say I will be prepared for all Mellichae's men and the crystals, just dont know how well I can stand up to the man himself. Maybe mindhit 2 and a few head hit3's then feign death for minute while I recover from his lightsaber damage. Of course I will not use armor when fighting him so as to keep my regen at a fast pace. I am not on Ahazi live, otherwise I would love to come along. I am on Bloodfin. Maybe I could help someone out on my server some time.

i solo'd him with just master swords with speed cap, and only using steak

ive soled him with swords i took the crystal out using tka for the better toughness mod to tank, if you can just take him on and tank the others thats what i did, once you kill him success and then you cna clean up. I used a scythe. of course if you have jedi freidns bring them and its no contest.
