Thread: Vibro Weapons and other questions/tips
Well, we all know the weaponsmiths are not able to make these yet.But this may help some of you get them as soon as they are available. I scoured the bazaar for the best axes and found three crafters who seemed to make a good product. I emailed all three in-game and one of them emailed me to let me know he was working away at it. As soon as he makes a vibro-axe he would email me.I'm really looking forward to getting rid of my tree-chopper of an axe.
Now some questions:
I'm wearing some OK bone armor. Should I forgo armor or is it worth it?
When my axe is deteriorated do I need to find a weaponsmith to repair it? Is there an easy way to repair it?
What is the best way to gain exp in this profession? I'll usually take two destroy missions in the same area and head out into the wilderness of Naboo. I'll generally kill everything around the lair, then I'll wack the lair once so more mobs spawn. Once I kill all the spawned mobs I'll wack the lair again to see if anymore spawn. Once I finish the mission I'll usually walk to another city killing everything possible along the way.
I'm also working on Scouting to be an animal tamer. This combo seems to work great as I harvest what I kill.
I took the entry training as a medic too. This allows me to buy stim packs and heal myself during combat. I can usually heal 50-100 health and action points every 8 seconds. Not bad. Since I am a scout I can make a camp and heal my wounds too.
Another tip - I bought some melee weapon power-ups. They seem to help quite a bit. When you buy one open your inventory and just drag and drop it onto your weapon. They seems to have a limit to the number of hits (all mine have 100). Once this is used up you will need to drag another one onto your weapon.
I'm working on level IV Two-handed Sword right now and my damage ranges from 130-500. Is this about right?
I'm a Novice Pikeman, but we're basically the same deal with different weapons and pool attacks.
Bone Armor only protects vs ranged attacks. Since we're up front when PvE, you're going to want at least mabari. You should be able to find some with 5-6% kinetic absorbtion if you look, and on Corbantis it costs around 1500 for chest and legs. For what it's worth, my legs get damaged faaaar more often than my head or torso (trandoshan so no gloves/boots), so get legs first. Legs also have much lower stat adjustments than chest armor does.
Anyone can repair weapons/armor, you just need someone with engineering II to make the tool for you. Better yet, find a Master Artisan to make it for you, since there's 3 optional components, and Master Artisans can make 2 of them. The other optional one's from Droid Engineer I believe. Repairing something will lower the max condition, and when you repair it by a large amount, you tend to drop more off the max than if you only repair 2-3 thousand. While you're at the Master Artisan, try to get them to make you a maxxed damage axe. Hopefully your Artisan is Human for the extra artisan experimentation, but take what you can get. My reinforced combat staff by a master artisan is 46-105, with a 4.4 delay. In comparison, a lance, which is the next step up, was 16-166, 6.2 delay. I found a smuggler with slicing 4, and got him to slice both my weapons. The staff went down to 3.5 delay and the lance went up to 199 max damage. I generally use the staff for the almost twice as fast attack speed. Sure I can /polearmHit2 with the lance for 880 or so, but misses suck hardcore.
Buy Stimpack-B's, or work your way up to Organic Chemistry III and make them yourself. They dont' take any more skill to use than Stimpack-A's, and heal much more. I generally use mine during combat, not outside it, and healing for 50-100 is pointless during combat. With First Aid II and a good Stim-B, I can occasionally heal for 250 health/action.
Scout is a very good complement, since you can make traps that lower the melee defense, ranged defense, or both, but only vs animals.
For quick exp gains, I recommend killing newbie mob lairs. Kill the stuff that's worth 60-100 exp, using this strategy. Kill all the creatures around the lair one at a time. Then hit the lair till a 2-3 pop. At least one should start healing the lair. Use this time to kill the other ones that popped, then kill the healer. Go back to hitting the lair. I've eeked 10-14 mobs out of a lair this way, getting anywhere from 48-90 exp apiece depending on the mob. Also, group with an artisan or some other non-combat character, and don't bring them with you. You'll still get the group exp bonus even though they're not there. This brought 48 exp mobs up to 61 exp for me.
Hope this helps.
