Thread: Complaints of a Swordsman

I posted this on the main discussion board, but it was burried in a matter of seconds.

1. Round time. Time inbetween swings is WAY too long. If someone could watch a typical fight by me, it would bore them to death. Swing, get hit, get hit, get hit, get hit, get hit, get hit, get hit, swing, repeat.

2. Missing. 2H weapons swing and miss WAY too much. Combined with the long round time of swinging, missing three times in a row is like instant death from a kreetle. Yes, kreetles and minor worrts have incapped me because I miss three times. This is probably the most frustrating thing.

3. Lack of weapons. The starting weapon is a heavy axe. Good weapon, BUT the next best weapon is a 2H cleaver, which can only be made by a MASTER melee WEAPONSMITH. I think that's a bit too much of a gap. Please give us more weapon choices.

4. The name. Why is it called swordsman when all you use is axes. Just makes no sense to me. :\

5. Accuracy. I know it's kind of the same as missing, but I don't know of any way to get a positive number. At point-blank range, it's -15. Whoopteedoo!

Actually, the next weapon up from the Heavy Axe is the Two-handed Axe (which is a big double bladed axe), not the Two-handed Cleaver. That is unless my weapon crafter didn't change the name to mess me me!

Yeah the long wait between swings does indeed suck, but that's why our damage is so fricken high. Sometimes I get tells from people who see my damage in the Combat window and they are shocked.

As for missing, everyone misses sometimes, we just swing so infrequently it seems like we never hit.

The name Swordsman is just fine with me I guess, although Axeman would be more appropriate.

There actualy is alot of"Swords" out there, Unfortunatly most of em are in the 1h line. Although there are few of em in our line, twohanded curved sword (think it might just say curved sword, but i hear there is a 1h version too), the Cleaver you talked about is a Very Large sword too if i am not mistaken. Expect to see a Vibro Sword eventualy, it shouldn't take em too long to Combine those two terms ^_^

Swords are trickier than normal weapons and this coming from a Weaponsmith (me). The weapons damage, speed, accuracy are all dependant on what type of materials we use for the swords and based upon your personal skills and stats...........

It takes Weaponsmiths Advanced Melee Weapons before we can craft a sword core and from there is where the fun truly begins...............the sword is only as good as the person who makes it................look me up in about a week when I get my Adv ...............

Replies:

1) If you dont like big delays... get a faster sword. My current one has a sliced delay of 2.2 which is plenty fast for me.

2) If you are getting killed by kreetles you are a very low level swordsman, thats why you are missing. Its like this with all weapons, as you move up the skill trees your accuracy improves.

3) We have the same number of weapons as other classes. The line is Heavy Axe, 2hnd Axe, Vibro Axe, 2hnd Curved Sword, Power Hammer.

4) Too many axes... couldnt agree more.

5) See number 2, same issue.

Other than number 4 none of these are really issues, at least not Swordsman issues. But yes we need more swords, although I'm pretty happy with my current one,a Two Handed Curved Sword which is 36-211 with a 2.2 speed.

Gnosis is it a 1h sword your using that swings at 2.2 sec.? I'd think it would be.

I strongly doubt ANY two handed weapons can reach 2.2 speed.

It is very possible to get a Two-Handed Curved Sword down to 2.2 speed, just depends on the materials you use to create the sword, then if you get a really nice slice done on your weapon.

not sure how I could be much more clear on whether or not it was a 2 handed sword...

2.2 speed is nuts! Yo must have had a really good slicer, what was the default speed and stats?

I've got a 45-204dmg, 3.3spd Two-Handed Curved Sword. I've also got another thats max 200dmg, 3.2spd one.

Since I paid a decent amount for the two swords I have, I will use one of them until it wears down to 300ish or so, then ask my crafter to repair. After that, I may get it sliced.

One thing...be very careful when having weapons and stuff sliced. If you hand a high level expensive weapon to a low skilled slicer, you have like a 80% chance it will fail and degrade the durability of the weapon. Check around and find a good slicer, tip them well and become their friend. A buddy of mine had two brand new Rykk blades trashed because he had them done by a slicer he didn't know.

anyway, Cheers
