Ok, so I've been a MD(oc) for a while and I'm not dropping it. My other is TKM.
I really like TKM, but not sure if it is the best for me.
The good of TKM:
The meditation line kicks butt.
Damage mitigation....... I can tank for days as a MD/TKM ifI'm smart with food/drink for mind.
Damage/Speed......no doubt TKM's can dish out massive damage in a flash.
Unarmed Knockdown 2...... yeah, instant kd rocks
The Bad of TKM:
The meditation line kicks butt. MD! I can heal wounds with cheap packs faster that meditation, not to mention cure anything
Damage mitigation....... Again, MD, with stim e's I heal for 1000+ not too worried about taking damage
Damage/Speed......I can kill myself faster than anyone I know can. lol
Kinetic, kinetic, kinetic.
one type of damage
Here is my question?:
After playing the proffession, does it have any advantages to offer me over TKM. I like the melee proffessions. What've you experienced? Thanks everyone.

I have mastered both, and I like swordsman way more, TKM was the same old thing, just walk up to a mob and spam unarmedhit3. Swordsman has several damage types, its AP2 damage so it makes a WORLD of difference, and although you need some skill tapes to max your speed, its still fun as hell without them. With no skilltapes, I can solo just about anything I want to (haven't tried an elder or a Krayt yet but its def possible with Mdoc and Mswords.) Also, check out some of the legendary weapons that are dropping for us...if you catch someone without armor, you probably CAN one hit them.
The only thing I do notice is that my armor wears out faster using Mswords then it did with TKM, but then again as a Master Doc (if you buff for bling) then you shouldn't have problems with cash flow.

Look....Elders, giant dune kimos... It's not PROBABLE that you'll win. You WILL win. I was so nervous the first time I fought each, and it was so silly of me. I'm willing to bet that with one little tweak to my template (master brawler is soon to come), I could take on 3 GDKs at once. All I need is the 30 second timer on intim2, and it would be in the bag. I don't think I go down more than 300 on each bar fighting one, and I have 2500 left after my main stats are diseased.

I can fight GDK's all day long with max wounds and 1000bf. Swordsman is truly uber with some expensive speed tapes and some good equipment. TKA looks good on paper, but it just won't do for PVE.

I spent tonight mostly killing NS Elders, piece of cake provided you keep them intimidated, they tear through your armour (brand new Composite lost nearly 10k condition) and give you a fair amount of BF, but the fight itself isn't that big a deal.

Swordsman rocks, with the one caveat: Speed tapes.
Without them, swordsman is decent enough, but nothing special. With speed tapes both swordsman and pikeman really begin to shine. If a master swordsman is doing 1dps, a speed capped swordsman with a 6.0 hammer (standard acklay speed) would be doing 5dps.

I too used to have TKM along with MD. I switched to Master Swords and I love it!
Sure, I do miss meditate from time to time, but to tell you the truth I never used it much anyway when I did have it.
From my experience I feel much more powerful with a scythe or hammer in my hand than I ever did as TKM. Swordsman is fantastic for PvE. And I love having that hammer around when you come up on something that has high resists to kinetic

On speed tapes and speed caps, there is an outstanding damage calculator here, and that should answer all your questions along those lines.

On a side note, I had the same questions you did not so long ago. I dropped TKM for master swordsman, and I have no regrets at all about doing so. I don't think I will ever go back.

i believe with a 6.0 hammer you need 95 2h spd, someone could probably answer this a bit better than me
