i will keep it short, read it f you want gain melee experience safe and fast.
- if you have doc / chef skills and can enchance yourself, get 50% - 60% kinetic chitin armor. It will give you 75% - 80% kinetic defense (AR1) and make your life so much easier.
- if you have no doc / chef skills and cant enchance yourself every time, get 20% - 30% kinetic mabari. It looks like peace of crap, but is maybe the most underrated armor around. You will get 60% - 75% kinetic defense fighting AP0 mobs (most are AP0) and maybe about 100 points penalty (sliced) on every stat, thats crazy low for the defense you get.
- use intimidation fighting strong mobs. It will cut damage of your opponent down to 40% - 60%. There is no reason not to use it.
- get a pet and droid. Advanced Probot with medium armor and rock beetle if you can afford both. Or any kind of droid and pet, and let the in town. Grouping with both will give you more experience. (bug? Maybe ... )
- low-lev fighter: try to get as fast weapon as you can get and use it with berserk. Dont bother with Power Hammer or other slow high-damage weapons, your speed and lack of accuracy will make it impossible to use it. Berserk is usually better in brawler tree and get worse as you advance to master swordsman compared to other specials.
- use powerups if you can afford them. I like "health encumb / speed" on Power Hammer and "mind encumb / max damage" on twohanded curved swords.

Yeah I use 3 different powerups... Health/speed for PH Action/Speed for Curved and sometimes I might switch to Health/Max Dmg on the PH..

@Korvan: i am doc and use enchances all the time, the only HAM value i care of, is mind.
If you dont have any enchances, action/damage or action/mind wound be better.
tatooinean sunburn will help too.
