Thread: KD/Posture timer solution

I play a swordsman and I was having fun using two-hand area attack which lowers the posture of multiple monsters. Continually spamming this attack when surrounded by monsters or getting pummelled by a pistoleer who could out melee me with the butt of his gun, I can understand why they added aposture change/kd timer. However, I don't think this is the ideal solution.

If defensive mods work as they should, then only one thing needed to be in place IMO. A spam inhibiter. What I mean is they should have just developed a mechanism that decreases the potency of an attack based on how many times it's been executed. Let me elaborate further.

If you use an attack once it would be at 100% effectiveness. If you use the same attack within a certain time interval, lets say within 2 seconds, it'll be down to lets say 90% effectiveness. If you keep spamming the attack, you keep losing effectiveness until you let yourself recoup from the first time you executed the attack. It's a simple mechanism used in alot of games. If defense mods worked as they should, then spamming an attack would not work, and would force players to do a variety of things rather than just one attack which would make combat more interesting overall.

This mechanism would make combat more interesting overall because people won't be spamming body shot 2 all the time for instance. This is because your overall damage would lose it's effectiveness. For KD's, you'd lose your effectiveness to knock someone down because eventually their KD defense (if defenses work) would balance out this type of spam attack.

I believe the 30 second timer is a band aid over what should be a real thought out fix. I'm not saying that my fix is the true fix but I don't believe this 30 second timer is an ideal solution and that there has to be something better.

As a former Pikeman, I hear ya on the KD timer issue. KD was Pike spcialty and a class defining combat maneuver. Anyway there is a severe lack of attention across the forums for this issue. Therefore, I think we got ram-rodded and there is no lubrication in sight.

Ouch. Fang's right. Nothin but hard bantha love for meleer's on this (Fencer was alright, since they have several dizzy moves than swords dosent, but thats only good on pc/humanoid types)

I think it should have been changed diffrently than an all around timer. I think it should have a timer on ranged KD's and poustre downs, because they still get a chance to kite with that (looking at a pure PVP/PVE against melee mob/pc's). If some one was to keep tripping you over and over, you'd still fall down every time, but they wouldnt wait for you to get all the way up to do it. (Kick them as they start to get up) But with this we'd have to.

Pikemen should be the best at lowering a stance and knock down as well in my eyes. They weild a long, polearm, of course they'd try to trip you. I think hitting some one with a heavy hammer or axe would knock them down, but swordsman have no *true* KD skill. Just area hit 3 with a 30% chance to dizzy, with a like 80% stance down chance as well.

I think fencer's would have a much faster speed than the other melee class(2-3 times than say pole or swords), Polearm stance down (with lots of damage to compisnate) and Swords knock downs, (due to the HMF Power Hammers.) TKA's would be kinda Jack-of-all trades (No favortism on this, just saying it as I would think.)

Also, I really wish the dev's would make defenses work, wouldnt be a problem for master melee professions to take this trouble as much. A "true" fix is needed, not a band aid as was mentioned above. PLEASE!
