Thread: We need nets......

The gladiators of old used nets and for good reason, to keep their enemies from running away. We need nets too. That would put those running NPC's and PC's in their place.

Balancing Issues:

Only make nets available to mid level elite 2 hand swordsmen.

Other Ideas:

Net's could be upgraded to cause damage, stun and perma-death.

Actually, the roman gladiator guys that used nets (I forget the fancy latin name) were only equipped with a net, a trident, and a flimsy little shoulder guard.

The most popular matchups were them against a heavy armored guy with a short sword and a big shield.

The dynamic of these was such that net-boy would use the trident and net to try to keep sword boy away from him, because if he got close he would chop him to pieces.

So, based off what I learned from the Discovery channel, we know two things about nets:

1) They should be used by pikemen, not swordsmen

2) Their main purpose should be to ensnare the enemy to keep them from killing you.

Also, remember there ARE traps that ensnare an opponent. only works on critters though (which don't kite).

How about a new attack like broadside hit, hit a enemy with the blunt side of weapon to cause dizzy. or like the pistoleers have, have the power hamer on a mind hit cause dizzy, or stun. as part of the weapons natural ability.

I all the mmorg games i have played you always have weapons with leach abilitys. intrduce scyth's with this ability.

Nets nah, bola's there is an idea, and idea commonly used in the starwar's movies and in the books. It will give the brawlers the ability to do a range attack, nets haveyoustill have tostay in close range to be used. Bolas are a ranged weapon, that can be used on bipedal npc's and pvp as well.

Bola's are a great idea. I fully support the concept.

I wanna throw my sword.

Range: 35m, sence it'd be 20m on my screen anyways...

Effect: KnockDown.

Drawback: Can't swing for a few seconds, simulating picking up the weapon.
