Thread: SM is the 6th worst class... -- all melee non-TKA classes least played classes
Appalling yes- a surprise? No. The fact is that the melee classes other than TKA have been fudged since Day 1. Most people want to go into professions that offer instant gratification. Aside from that there are those that are strict range players because "When did anyone in SW other than Jedi ever use a melee weapon?".
I played EQ for a long **edit** time and the same stuff that is happening here happened there. Things were very broken for some of the classes and a lot of the quests were broken as well, but after time and a zillion patches they ironed out the kinks for the most part. The same thing will happen with SWG except that this game was released way before it's time so we can expect a zillion and a half more patches/nerfs/fixes to nerfs, before this is a truly playable and enjoyable game no matter what combat class you choose.
As far as the other professions you mentioned such as the entertainers/artisans - well that is expected. Not too many people bought the game in the first place wanting to be merchants or musicians. Everyone wants to be the cool peeps. Not to mention some of the aformentioned professions are also imbalanced and/or broke (such as the Chef).
I figure by the time everything gets fixed up to the point it should have been at when it released, I will have mastered every base profession and most of the elites....sooo screw the holocrons lol. 
Besides, if they can't even figure out how to balance the base classes, do you really think the Jedi is going to be all that? hmmm...
WHOOOO HOOO!! I'm happy! Who the heck wants 10,000 swordsmen running around the server? how queer is that? nonononononono,
we're very lucky we're a kick-arse class in our own right, w/o the public mob given us a bad rap.
LOVE SWORDSMAN CLASS, WE ARE THE FEW, THE ELITE, THE GIMPED (but not as bad as some think!)
The funny part is, I think the reason that Swordsman is more popular is because of the people who think they need to learn it to be Jedi. Yeah, everyone wants mind attacks, but if your primary motivation is doing well in PvP, you stay far away from the brawler tree.
We're more popular than Chefs!
Maybe, just mabye, now that everyone wants to be this class we'll get some love!

This is pretty appalling. All three of the non-TKA classes form 50% of all the least chosen professions. We're squarely the top of a very small heap. This is clear evidence non-TKA classes need help.
0.61% Novice Swordsman
0.46% Novice Squad Leader
0.35% Novice Fencer
0.31% Novice Image Designer
0.30% Novice Chef
0.25% Novice Pikeman
I just wish we got more dev love but then again so does every class
