Hello. I'm a MCH/Grenadeer right now, but I'm getting a little bored of Commando and having nothing to work for (I have 1 skill point to my name)... and Swordsman looks really fun, and from my limited experience with it (got up to 2 Handed IV at some point) it was fun.

My questions are as follows...

1) How do swords work in conjunction with pets? Meaning... how often do you end up getting the crap beaten out of you instead of your pet?

2) I know there is a mind bleed in the class, but which one is it? Is it mind hit? or head hit?

3) My planned template is MCH, master swordsman, master scout, and novice medic. The master scout part isn't necessary, just something to do with points. Would you suggest anything else?

Ultimately I'm tired of using guns all the time, and I really like the looks of the Power Hammer and Cleaver. The curved sword isnt so bad, either.

So any help for a possible future swordsman would be greatly appreciated.

1) from what i hear swords work well with pets. i dont use them myself, but others do, and i have hunted with a master ch, just send the pets in to distract the thing you want to attack, and come in behind the target and start pounding/slicing it to a pulp.

2) the mind wound attacks are the ones that cause bleeding, they are in the finesse tree and are gained by combat exp.

3) i cant help you with the template because i only have the hunting tree and the exploration tree in scout for harvesting hide for a friend, and the terrain negotiation. but alot of people that are melee use medic/doctor skills for themselves, and find it quite handy, i know a person that has master doctor, and about half the swordsman skills, and it works quite well for him.

i hope the info helped good luck on the path to swordsman. and a tip never attack a seething bol crusher if you are a swordsman, the resists against the two types of attack damage we do cause it to take almost no damage at all.

Alright here we go in order -

1.) Working up to 4/4/1/4 in CH personally and with pets they work great, mind you your pets will almost always attack the health/action pools and your main target is the mind pool, but to have them tanking until they upgrade the AI you should be fine, I would suggest using a pet with some sort of posture down attack because when you get into melee a good portion of the time your NPC counterpart pulls out a melee weapon, and we all know how effective we are swinging a power hammer from the prone.

2.) This was already answered but I will expound a bit because of some checking I did, the mindhit1/2 are both mind bleeds, which coincidently stack with rifle mind bleeds and I know you said you want to get away from using a gun but working up rifleman and getting 4 stacked mind bleeds is great for those high end npcs.

3.) Just touching on the template mine is personally going to be Master Swordsman, CH, Rifleman, and Novice Medic, I would just suggest rifle for the ability to constantly pound the single smallest mind pool most PC's have, makes us great in pvp.

Drop 2 quick mind bleeds with your spraystick (yeah I know the damage sucks but you can get them out there quick and give the opponent something to worry about) then charge in and hopefully run them into a corner and use headhit's to level them quickly, unless you have a really fast weapon and don't think you will win the fight then I suggest hitting them with two quick mind bleeds from your two handed curved sword, or one massive headhit from a power hammer should do the trick to get them low enough to either bleed out, or incapped/killed within moments of you closing the distance.

A note on the AI changes... if you actually group with your pet(s) then there will be no change. The change only affects those who don't group with their pets, as not grouping with your pets relieves you of all but a very, very, very small chance of taking aggro.

Basically the AI "change" is going to be implemented to keep people from "exploiting" a flaw in the AI and having almost no danger at all when fighting something, just for not grouping with their pets.

Thanks for the answers to the questions. I'll probably get set up with Swordsman sometime in the near future.
