hey i just thought this would be a cool title for swordsman instead of "expert heavy swordsman" i think myrimdon (i think thats how it's spelled) would be a cool replacement cuz i never see any one wearing expert heavy swordsman and myrimdon sounds cooler. by the way myrimdons where swordsman who fought on the side of the greeks in the trojan war (i think) so any way if and SOS ppl read this maybe you sould take it in to considerration cuz i think it would be cool and maybe other ppl would too. ahhh i don't know do what you want

It has a nice, exotic feel, but the problem I have is not the obscurity of the reference, but the authenticity. What I mean is that this is all supposed to be happening in a galaxy far, far away. That makes authentic references to Earth history a bit out of place.

For instance, "Ranger" is a term used on Earth, obviously, but it is so widely used (a specialty from the U.S. and other armies, park policemen, various fantasy stories and games, etc.) that it does not hold a specific meaning, but rather, creates an image useful to describe the profession. "Gunfigher" has some specific reference to the Old West, but the term is generic enough to have wider meaning. Specific references to unique groups in Earth history do not follow that pattern.

In short, I think the suggestion is creative, but I do not believe it fits in this particular setting. Besides, why can't a Novice Swordsman work his way to Master Swordsman? And a Novice Rifleman work his way to Master Rifleman? And a Novice Pistoleer .... well, you get the picture.

ack i see what you mean. but i was not thinking like instead of "novice swordsman" "novice myrmidon" but just in the sword defence line that it would replace "Expert heavy swordsman" but i see what you mean from the obsure cuz it was a greek thing and not just a well rounded like ranger as you said. nevertheless, i still wish i could have that instead of expert one but.......it's not up to me......

P.S dragoon for pikeman would be awesome too they where british clavery that could be infatry as well...................but whatever thanks for the opinons i hope you put down more

I'm pretty sure that's one of the titles the Warrior class in Everquest get. Level 59 warrior I *think*, it's been awhile since I've played EQ. -- All the "expert className" type titles, especially in the elite classes, should be thrown out and replaced with something creative. They're lazy cop-outs.
