I was out hunting on Dant last night with my 2H curved sword and my Power hammer. I was attacking Piket lairs and the occasional longhorn pikets that I ran across. I noticed something odd about the damage being done.

As everyone knows the damage in the combat log is the initial damage, and the damage over the head of the target is the actual damage after all resists and armor adjustments are made.

Well, longhorn pikets are vulnerable(no resists, and no armor) to blast damage, so I pulled out my power hammer, and the numbers over their head were exactly what the combat log showed. If it hit for 1241 in the combat log, then 1241 floated over them. yet Iwas using a Medium AP weapon that should do (1241 + 25%) +25% = 1938 damage. Then, I attacked a lair, and started watching the floating number there....the combat log would show I hit for 2400 damage, but the floating number would be just over 1K. A 5XX damage hit would result in a 2XX damage hit. I switched to the curved sword and everything balanced out.

Do lairs have a resist% to blast? Or is there a problem with the power hammer or the medium ap rating? I used to be a BH, and never had a problem with the way AP0 and AP1 weapons hit, I ran tests for weapon smiths to check the AP ratings back when they made it so weapons would show that they had it and it always worked correctly, but now with AP2 melee weapons like the power hammer, it isn't adding up. Its like our best sword...er hammer isn't working correctly on creatures with AR0 and vulnerabilty to blast...not to mention the lair issue (which may be related.)
