Thread: Question for Combat Experts...

I'm trying to quantify a defense skill found in the TKA line. This ability is called defense acuity. The IG description says that itimproves your ability tododge, counterattack, and block. (very rough paraphrase)

My question is: As a master swords man I have roughly +100 counterattack (not sure the exact number), If i get the novice TK box (gives +15 defense acuity) how will this improve my template?

Is the +15 added to counter attack?

Is the +15 added to the 2hand melee CoB efficacy?

Is it divided by 2, multiplied by pi, take the square root, invert it and take the arc sine and then added to counter attack?

Does anyone know, or have a link to this type of information?

Thanks in advance

It won't really.

A few issues here.

The main one is that these passive defenses are not designed to stack. Counterattack will only work when you have a 2h weapon equipped or a carbine. The fact that it will work for both of these is a bit of a bug and there have been indications that skills such as counterattack will be split up so as to not stack between melee and ranged professions.

Secondly, my experiences with Defensive Acuity (and the general TKA community's experience with it) is that it is simply not very effective.

What would stack is the melee/ranged defense that you gain from that same TKA line. Check out the FAQ Listings stickied thread in the Brawler forum for a bit of a discussion regarding what these two bonuses will do for you.

Another TKA ability that you might consider is meditation. By taking four boxes in meditation you will be able to power boost, adding significantly to your stats, and you will be able to meditate to heal wounds, poison, bleeds and disease.

Good reply St. Gabe.. perhaps you could answer a question of mine then. How do multiple instances of something like melee damage mitigation stack? For example in swordsman it goes up to what, 3? But in the dirtyfighting line in smuggler I get melee damage mitigation.. I'm going to assume it takes the highest I have and works off that.. but I could be wrong and would like to know one way or another. Thanks.

Melee and ranged mitigation don't stack with themselves. You get the highest level that you have obtained in any profession.

Suppose you had melee mit 1 from fencer, melee mit 2 from swordsman and ranged mit 3 from pistoleer. Overall you will take damage as melee mitgation 2 and ranged mitigation 3.

Excellent, thank you for the confirmation.
