Thread: defenses stacking being fixed?

Hi, i am workign on a template (defense stackign with master swords and brawler at teh core). Anyway, i was talkin to someone ine game earlier and he mentioned that defense stackign was being "fixed".


Is this true? am i wasting my time srackign up defenses so i can do dungeons and high end npcs?

yes... and no, yes they are fixing it that what the Combat Upgrade is doing BUT the upgrade isnt gonna be for another few months yet and it should take u a week or 2 at the MAX to grind a stacker template, everyone is freaking out about "OHH NO THEY ARE NERFING MY UBAR TEMPLATE" but you have to realize with the current weapons armor and buffs you can grind ne proffession in a matter of days some in a matter of hours (i went from Novice to TKM in a buff session) go grind out ur stacker template and have fun with it, keep reading the boards you will have WAY more than enough notice on when the CU is commin to live and will have time to pick up a template that will suit your style of gameplay after the Upgrade.

Nothing really to suggest that a template that incorporates two or more melee professions is gonna be useless anyway is there really is there? I mean... If a Kung Fu Grandmaster decided he wanted to swing big swords, he's gonna be pretty darn tough already, no? Add to that the techniques he learns from Kendo/Iaido or whatever... He'd be pretty frinkin lethal methinks.

*hopes her TKM/Swords/Brawler template is gonna be a keeper*

they are gonna be implenting what they have been talkin about doin for so long, any skills gained in a proffession will only apply to that profession and more of you move/defenses will be gained higher in the skill trees and at master so as to prevent dabbling, and ranged professions WILL be more powerful no questions about it. I am a life long TK but i may have to change it up after the revamp.

That's fair enough, but my point is surely someone who is, like me - Master Swords, Teras Kasi Master, Master Brawler - not really Dabbling there am I? Someone such as that should be very tough in melee combat - Ranged combatants have a vast advantage over me of course as long as they can keep their distance, but close-quarters someone who is a pure melee build should be very hard to take down.. anyhoo, I guess i'll see where i stand come revamp time - hundreds of players becoming useless overnight isn't gonna leave happy bunnies tho methinks ^_^

Whoo hoo, go devs. Way to kill one of the remaining interesting things about this game. Now instead of everyone haveing a different template that they have tweeked to their personal preference, everyone will be a master doc/master combat and the only difference will be what people do with the other 18 points.


Part of the appeal of the current system is that you are not set in your class. You can be a swordsman/fencer with a little pistoleer. Now we will end up being like every other RPG. You are a wizard, or a warrior, and nothing else. All wizards are the same, and all warriors are the same.


If you want to make some money at the combat revamp, sell +med shirts, cuz everyone is going to be a doc.

Thanks for the responses guys. This clears it up for me.


Right now i am tk 4444, novice swords, brawler 4444 and nearly at novice fender. With a bit of grind, some teaching and tweaking i shoudl be there in a week or so (i don't get to play as often as i woudl like).

Just adapt. Ive been a stacked melee guy for about 6 months now. There are MAYBE 3 things in the game I cant kill...with enough time. Ive allready got my path figured out.


Master Swords

Master Rifles

Pharm 4


Knock the HELL out of your mind poolat distance and when you close in, whip out the 1000+ damage PH and knock the hellout of your mind some more. There's NO WHERE for you to go thats safe. Sure I'll be getting hit more often and harder but that's what pharm 4 is for. 1200 heal from a stim E.


Keep in mind they don't want you to be a god. The idea is to work together and play together. I don't see the number of docs going up that much. If they do, it will just be that much easier for me to get a buff for my swords/rifleman.

Keep in mind that buffs are going to be completely redone as well. Doc won't be as attractive because people won't likely be able to solo high level content. I predict the number of docs dropping.
