Thread: Worst part about being melee faction points...

Possibly the worst thing to me about being melee is trying to get faction points. I have resigned to faction point TEF farming in Anchorhead. Yeah some would consider that dishonorable but I don't really care. I have given up on trying to run Imperial missions because the 4 ranged guys just spread out and run from me and shoot me to ****. I chased 1 guy 200m before I just gave up and ran back to the base, then he came back and did the same thing until I just gave up.

I don't really know what can be done about this, I mean you can't just have them stand there and shoot you like idiots, but I don't know do you think we just have to be screwed in that aspect? Any ideas?

What are the IMP missions like? I am a Novice Heavy Swordsman, and I can handle two missions in 10 minutes. That is the fastest I can do them. The missions usually involve 2 Civilian Imp Patrols and a base. One hit usually takes them out, either 2handspin or 2handhit2. Are the IMP missions harder?

Get a few more boxes in Swordsman and you will know the definition of pain. Let me know how you fare against multiple Stormtroopers. It will REALLY hurt when I surrender my Rifle Specialist skill, since that's the only way I can get faction points...

A typical mid/high level Imperial mission has 1-2 "weak" ranged NPCs (ex. SpecForce Technician, Rebel Trooper), 1-2 "strong" ranged NPCs (SpecOps Lieutenant, etc.) and Rebel Medic. If they are spread out and you attack, you are dead. If they are clumped, you Area Attack and then you are dead.

Everything hits you for 100-200 damage a hit without armor, the "strong" NPCs will randomly use stopping shot for anywhere from 400-1000 damage. Since Area Attack no longer works properly, you must engage in a kiting war with each individual NPC. And these guys will NOT stop for you. Especially Rebel Medic. Rebel Medic is the bane of all Imperial brawlers. Before I quit taking faction missions appropriate to my level, 80% of my deaths were to Rebel Medic.

For now the only solution is farming at the oasis...get rebel resistance missions...tab, /headshot2, tab, /headshot2, tab, /headshot2, /headshot 2, equip hammer, attack lair, equip rifle right before lair blows up. Awesome.

Oh yeah, the funny part is that when I miss with my god-awful rifle accuracy, the low level rebel NPCs ALWAYS switch to melee, forcing me to equip my sword and get 4 faction points. Mid/high level rebel NPCs NEVER use melee. It makes me sad to see such blatant examples of the game being balanced around marksmen.

"Hey, let's make the newbie NPCs all use melee so players can kite them." Thanks SOE, great logic, we really appreciate it.

Come on people! I found an easy way to deal with running faction missions a long time ago. When you get enough faction points, buy yourself some faction pets (or a real pet like a Cowardly Gurreck) and have them attack the outpost first, than as soon as the NPCs engage the pets, run in and clean house................its simple..............I'm not fond of using pets at all, but using them for this reason is awsome.........

KEY WORD = PET (non-faction pets don't perma die, so they are resusable, faction pets are tough and healable)
