Thread: What Specials Do?

I am an up and coming Swordsman, and I am completely confused as to what the heck these special moves really do. The descriptions are ambiguous, and my testing has provided no tangible result to help me figure out what ones to use in different situations. I have spent hours on the board here with no luck in figuring them out either.

Can someone with experience make a short list of each special, what it is suppose to do vs really does, and when it is most useful (PVE or PVP), etc?

In my opinion, the most useful specials for PvE are 2handedhit2 or 3(if you're master), headhit3, and the mind bleeds. For PvP this patch, I would say the most useful are mindhit1+2, and headhit3s.

That was brief, but VERY helpful none the less. Thanks, and I'll try them and see.

Can anyone just make a list to the moves? I'm bloody confused on sweeps, and spins and area attacks.

2Hheadhit2 Does....? PVP or PVE or both?

2HspinAttack2 Does....? PVP or PVE or both?

etc. Maybe a note on differences between them if you know.

2handhit2 & 3 these are my most used specials in PvE in a group, they damage a random pool

2handheadhit These attack only the Mind pool of the target and do damage on contact

2handmindhit This is a Mind pool "Bleed" you hit the targets mind and then every "tic" the mind is drained for the amount of the original hit (you do not have to be in melee range or even concious for it to stay working)

2handareahit does random pool damage to all mobs in a specified area around you (not sure what the radius is) with a chance of a posture change (not as powerful as knockdown) and a dizzy possibilty (very rare)

2handsweep does random pool damage to all mobs in melee range (very similar to area special, but no change to posture)

These are the main ones, we get no non-weapon special such as intimidate or blind like you see in TK and I think we should, but that is just me.

Ack, I think I got the sweep and area backwards, sweep should do the posture change and area gets dizzy.

my kingdom for an edit button.

Someone just said they have tested Warcry and it does work. I wonder how effective it is for those of us that have Warcry 2?

Thanks! That was very helpful. So what about Berzerk, Taunt, Initimidate and Warcry from Novice Berzerk skills? Do they help at all?

Learn to love Intimidate. It works almost TOO well. It will up make an enemy about 75% as effective both in damage output and hit rate.

Berserk isn't as good as it used to be. In the old days it doubled base damage, now it just give +75 minimum damage and slightly increases your attack speed (but you can do no specials while in berserk mode).

Taunt when it works will keep an enemy on you, good if you're the 'tank' in a group.

Warcry is supposed to attach an attack delay to the creature, but I'm not sure it works. I never use it.
