the other night, i noticed my power hammer was doing alot less than it should be (about 800 avg), then i tried my curved sword... it did about as much on average

After the patch and for the next day armor piercing was broken.
That was likely what you were experiencing as the power hammer is an armor piercing weapon.
It's fixed now so you should be fine.

Yeah I can't seem to hit for over 4k anymore, when I could hit for 6k often before patch. Seems to be broken AP to me.
