Thread: Cavalry Thought
Anyone else been thinking about slightly reorienting their swordsman to be more of a cavalry sort when the mounts come out?
Was evaluating most of the PvP I do, and for the most part it seems like cavalry would actually work for me pretty well. I don't like chasing enemies into cities, and if I do go in it's a single sweep through, then off to the hills to recover for a while - that keeps them from recovering their balance and swarming me under. I generally prefer the hunting grounds and areas between cities and player cities for my raiding, where I can choose the conditions of my assaults. Speed and mobility are my best weapons - the big knife is helpful as well, though... ![]()
So I'm thinking, why not get set up with more of a cavalry model? Switch from Rifleman skills to Pistol or Carbine(in my book, any meleer HAS to have some anti-kiting mechanism more reliable than the infamous Run Away technique). Pistol just for the speed with which they fire, and the possibility of 2 pistols someday. Carbine to get in those wicked knockdowns, AEs, and action bleeds. Not sure which, but either would be pretty viable...
Would work best with a small team of cavalrysoldiers - a few dismounted to apply the specials, and the rest to sweep in, swords flashing. Ought to work well vs infantry. And against cavalry, you have a ranged weapon in case they run away, and if they try to stand, standard sword attacks beat standard ranged attacks at point-blank range for damage anyday when specials aren't an issue...
Thoughts on this for viability?
