if you want to be viable in pvp, choose a ranged profession, or find a way to sneak up on ppl, it's silly to continue to ask for pvp help from the devs! you are a melee class, and that means you fight up close. stop complaining. if you want to melee pvp get master brawler for lunge2 and stop asking for stretch armstrong arms! i mean come on you can hit just as far as a friggin combat staff now! does that seem right? this is a role playing game, play your roles as meleers! if you want to role play a ranged player go choose a ranged profession! I mean come on, anyone seen Indiana Jones? remember the scene with the swordsman? bang one shot done! deal with it this game is supposed to reflect at least some realism. YES we do need ham reductions, but as far as pvp goes that is the way it should be. i would say it would be a high estimate to be able to beat 1 in 5 ranged opponents with a melee char and that is the way it should be. once in a while you get lucky and can burst and take down 2-3 at once, but that is the once in awhile chance that it should be. I am a master swordsman/pikeman and i don't complain when i get my assss handed to me on a platter because that is the way it should be! deal with it or quit.

Do you ever watch martial arts movies? Who generally wins? The martial artist or the bad guy with a gun?

There you go.

If you really want realism, go join the army or fight in the ultimate fighting championships. This is a game.

Role playing is separate from balance issues.

Just because class A can be role played doesn't mean the class can be hit with the nerf bat. They are completely different aspects of the game.

lol yesi have watched a lot of martial arts movies, and for the most part they don't win against ppl with guns they can kick the crap out of 20 other martial artists, but they get at the very least hurt by the gun and have to wait until they have an opportunity to attack the person when they are unarmed haha, nice try though

Who says the martial artists can kill the bad guy w/o a scratch?

Who wins in the end? The good guy with the martial art or the bad guy with a gun?

For every movie you name where the martial artist character dies to a gun I'll name 20 where the martial artist kills the guy with the gun.

melee classes are not meant to be able to win a fight against ranged classes if these do not let the melee'ers come too close.

same are pistoleers against riflemen, if the rifleman plays well and doesn't let the pistoleer come close enough on him, he wins. no chance for pistoleer, and the game is meant to be like this.

the other way round, if a melee-class-player doesn't make any mistake, he will own every ranged player... not making a mistake includes not attacking the ranged-class-player on range...

Now that's what the different classes are meant to be, well, if the players now what to do...

Riflemen own ALL in 1v1 at a range of 40-60m, as that's where they are most effective

Carbineers sell HEAVY damage ata range of 30-50m in 1vX, as that's what they're most effective for...

Pistoleers own ALL in 1v1 at a range of 15-30m, as that's what they're most effective for (ok, forget unarmed lunge1)

Commandos sell HEAVY damage at a range of 15-35m in 1vX, as that's what they're most effective for...

Bountyhunters are GOOD, but not BEST in what Commandos, Pistoleers and Carbineers do...

Pikeman sell HEAVY damage at melee range in 1vX, as that's what they're most effective for...

Swordsmen sell GOOD damage at melee range in 1vX and GOOD damage in melee range in 1v1, as they can do both well, but not best...

Fencers sell BEST damage at melee range in 1v1, as that's what they're intended to be like...

TKAs are GOOD at melee 1v1 and have the ability of self-heal...

Now, would that be a useful profile? Why, why not? Were the game good if these profiles were accomplish each for every class? Or what else are the classes meant to be?

And: What has not been accomplished?

Tell me your ideas, did I get the Devs wrong?

Add: Melee should in general inflict more damage than ranged, which is in effect already, isn't it?

If I had to fight bruce lee at 15m with his unarmed skills and my gun....I would win. No questions asked. But that alone still doesnt adress the issues melee fighters are having. Question: has the 2.5x dmg against a commando fighting melee changed anything? If it did then all melee right now are anti commando.

you see that is what i said. the martial artist can win in the end, but they must first get the STRATEGIC upper hand, hence must "catch them with their pants down" sort of thing. they rarely win when the opponent actually has their gun equipped, or it has no bullets left, whatever, but they have to wait till the opportune time and that is what i am trying to get across pvp wise....PvE however is a different story entirely, ham is too high, range suxors, etc.. but i just can't see how ppl complain about the pvp aspects of melee classes
