Thread: Thinking of re-rolling

I'm fed up with the limitations on Trandoshans, such as the lack of hand/boot armour, inflexible stat caps and the huge imp faction penalty (though that last one isn't a big deal), so I'm probably going to scrap my lizard and create a new character.

My usual setup will continue to be master doc/master heavy swordsman, what do you guys reckon would be the best character to go with to be competitive at later levels ? I'm thinking probably human because I can dump huge amounts of stat points into mind and buff the hell out of the others, though the zabrak's equalize is a great get out of jail free card as well, so I'm not sure which of those two to go with.

Any thoughts ?

try playing a wookiee......

you'll be screaming for your trandoshan limitations

my thoughts - this game is kinda whack haha.

but seriously - humans have it the best, hands down.

zabarks are also good but do you want those silly horns?

I don't mind a challenge, but I'm not a masochist

Wookiees are definitely out.

I'm leaning towards human, because they're the least gimped of all the races and everyone seems to play Zabraks these days - of course since most people are running around in composite armour who can tell ?

I might actually get a second account temporarily just so I don't have to scrap my lizard completely and can use him to buff my newbie character to help me through the tedious first few stages.

It means the two professions I ground out for those stupid blue cubes are wasted, but since that system's changing in a couple of months I figure I might as well switch over to a race that means I can have fun regardless.

Honesly I would suggest Hummi or Rodian for MHS/MDoc. Reason bieng Humans can migrate all to mind when you get doc. And Rodian just have HUG Action bars

You might wanna try Mon Cal. I dunno bout you but I dont go anywhere unbuffed usually, since Im always taking on high lvl mobs. So, the high mind stats you can get from Mon Cal go well with that. That being said I love my Zabrak the defenses and Equalize are awesome. My other choice would be Rodian. You get some fighting bonuses and defense to blind. But, human you just get to play with the stats a lil more and to me are just a weaker Zabrak.

Aye, well I do like my lizard and I have put a lot of work into him, but really, the statement that trigerred all this was KStarfire in the core systems forum stating that "Trandos, like wookiees, are at a significant disadvantage during combat" - the two physically strongest species in the game, pure hunting species, are amongst the weakest combat species, this just indicates to me that the devs really don't know what they're doing when it comes to balancing stuff.

It's actually better to be a human in combat than a lizard or wookiee - if you were considering a melee fight this is nonsense, a trando or wookiee would tear a human to shreds in seconds, but as it stands the chances are that we're the ones who end up going to the cloning centre.

There's also the fact that despite Trandos basically being evil sons of **edit**, in league with the Empire, that we still have the same imp faction penalty that every other species suffer, though admittedly this is a pretty minor concern, more of an irritant, I don't mind a challenge, but it has to be balanced by rewards at the end of the day - hell, even if it was equal to a human or zabrak that would be something, but he's not.

I'll leave it a while anyway I expect, see what the discussion on the forum turns up - there's even talk of removing composite armour from Trandos, if that goes ahead I'm definitely re-rolling because it just shows me the devs couldn't find their arse with both hands and a roadmap.

Yours respectfully.

(bah, I'm in a bad mood today)

I hear ya, this would make sense if this game was actually logical and made sense, LOL

I re-rolled a human, I'm amazed at how powerful he is compared to my wookiee, just amazing. I can macro on a full set of nice armor in a jam and can tank somethign for a long time. True I can kill myself with specials in my armor if I'm not buffed, but I can tank it with auto attack and still be very effective.

If you are a Trando, it only makes sense to be a TKA. Most human TKA's go around without armor. To me the only reason to be Trando or Wook would be to become a TKA, Ranger or MCH if you wanna play other classes pick a different race.

I did exactly this, I had a Trandoshan Master Commando, and I re-rolled a Human, which I am now taking up the Swordsman tree. It was the armor thing that was irritatingme the most, but I have noticed that even while wearing a full set of padded (looks so much better than compo) I still take un-armored damage, but deffinitely not nearly as much as a Trandoshan.

The reason I went Trando first of allwas for the extra stat points, but by the time you factor in the high minimum values for Str and Con, you actually end up with less points to spend elsewhere.

Humans have fantastic stat ranges at the moment, but it's got to be a bug, so I fear what they will end up with if they ever fix it...

Well, it sounds silly but the main reason I picked a trando was because I wanted a tall character and I don't like wookiees much (sorry guys ).

The extra stat points weren't really a major factor, I didn't actually know about the armour limitations until I was well into my character - the impression I got from the manual was that armour really wasn't all that great, so even when I found out I couldn't wear boots or gloves I wasn't really all that bothered, recently I've been able to afford *real* armour, I'm disappointed that we have such a glaring problem in this area.

The problem for me remains that the two supposedly strongest and toughest species in the game, namely Trandoshan and Wookiee, are pretty much the weakest species when it comes to combat - primarily due to design decisions based around some supposed "continuity" argument that they conveniently ignored when giving Zabraks, Twileks and Mon Calamari complete armour despite their strange anatomies. I don't want to see anyone get nerfed, I want to see the weaker races brought up to the same level as everyone else.

I'm gonna stick with my lizard for now, I've put too much effort into him and I'm fed up with everyone and their monkey playing humans or zabraks, but it won't stop me campaigning for changes to the game to make Trandos and Wookiees what they're supposed to be - very very scary.

I'm with ya on the campaigning for changes for a trandoshan. I have thought about re rolling a few times but cant be arsed to go through the grind again (I'm only a casual gamer)
