Thread: A few questions from a new swordsman

I was looking from some advice on choosing skills as i proceed up the Swordsman tree. I am a carbineer and the path we always recomend to new carbineers is to do the few speed skills, then move to accuracy and finally do defence. I noticed that the accuracy mods are contained in Combat XP tree, that is kind of helpful since i alot of surplus combat XP since i have Master Carbineer for a while. So i will have enough for the first 2 and half boxes. My question is since i already some (but not much defence) with Master Carbineer and lots of counterattack should i go up the tree that gives me the most speed mods right away.

Secondly i am using a Two-Handed Curved Sword, simply because it is the fastest. Eventually i want to move to a Power Hammer, simply because i like they way they look. What is the ideal weapon to use grinding 2H swords XP, i noticed Power Hammers to be slow, for the moment unless someone has something to say on the contrary i am using a 2H curved sword for the speed, might move to a speed sliced scythe for a bit. But eventually i want be carrying around a giant hammer.

If you're changing from Carbineer to Swordsman, do not get rid of your combat xp tree to fill up the Swordsman xp tree. In other words don't go 4 4 4 0 in Carbineer to go 0 0 0 4 in Swordsman. You will lose the combat xp after hitting the first box (just an fyi as I made this dumb mistake).

Yes, go up the speed tree first which is 0 4 0 0. I did defense next, but this is really you're call. I like hunting unbuffed so I needed the counter attack mods.

Once you're at 0 4 0 4, you can use the powerhamer as it is too slow an inaccurate for anything less, but don't expect to spam special unbuffed (You probably know this being a Carbineer).

I got to 0 4 0 4 with the two handed axe just fine. It has a better min damagethan the two handed cleaver and better HAM costs.

At 0 4 3 4, I'm using a damage sliced two handed cleaver while unbuffed, and usinga speed slicedpower hammer when buffed.

Anyone else do anything differently?

i am keeping Carbineer and dropping Ranger for Swords. I have about 200K of banked combat XP to use though. I have noticed with my 2H curved sword i can spam specials just fine unbuffed. But i usually play buffed, i just wanted to really see how bad the carbine HAM costs were and my jaw almost dropped when i was spamming specials with armour on and *not* taking 357 action damage Swords looks to be pretty fun. thanks for the advice.

I used a special power hammer that was made to have -8 accuracy mods and a 5.7 speed. With a 30% healt and a 15% speed power up i just used it to grind from novice.

Had my combat xp capped so with novice came the last 3 boxes.
I only had time to do 1 more lair but my hammer- 4.0 spd 190 min 460 max - and mind hit2 was awesome dude.

I dunno, I am 1 4 0 4 in swordsman and I started yesterday(I hunt on dath a lot). Once you are 0 4 0 4 you should be on dath for most of your training, get buffed and head off to rancor valley and use a ph slcied for speed or dmg(doesn't matter for me). Get some good buffs and some nice armor(I use sariane's composite).

Right now i am 0303 and i am Dantooine for most of my training doing Savage Quenkers,I timed myself with my 2.0 68-248 2H Curved Sword, did an entire Quenker Lair in 2m 12s with /melee2hspinattack1 targeted on the lair and the Quenkers mindlessly running into a proverbial blender. 6 Quenkers a lair @ 3139 XP each is 18834 and approx 3K for for the lair puts me at about 22K in 2m 12s, add in travel and mission accepting time i can usually get 2 mission done, 2 missions accepted and back on my way out in under 12 minutes.

As far as i can tell this the fastest way to get XP, plus i still have some ranger left over with a quick /areatrack i can sometimes find a non-mission Savage Quenker Lair in which case i get it done in about the same time but i usually get 9-10 Quenkers, so i end up with about 30K XP. I must say for PvE this beats the hell out of carbines at this level. Not sure how it will progress once i get nearer to master, but i don't seem to be making that much advancement since i got Novice, With carbines every time i got a new box it felt almost like i doubled in ability. Whereas Swordsman i hardly notice it.

wilibus, once you get master sword techniques you become much fast, imo, and then everything else is a piece of cake. Go to dathomir, yavin, or endor. On Naboo I made like 450k of 2h xp in about an hour doing bolle bols while I was trying to level up my speed line for swords. While I was on dath last night no enraged rancor(bull or otherwise(except ancient enraged)) could harm me. Head hit 3 is a blessing, esp. with my sliced ph that does 619 max dmg w/o a pup(and it's not an acklay).
