There's a simple way to tell which mods don't work.
Look through the Swordsman Skill Tree in game - If you cant find a mod on the skill tree that matches the one on the attachment, then you should probably consider it broken.
2hSpeed is the most important obviously. 2hAccuracy is nice for overcoming the crappy range mods on hammers, but not as important (or valuable) as speed.

Please note, if you cap on speed AND accuracy tapes, your damage per second will be tripled. I never miss unless I am blinded by a PvP defense stacker. On Creatures, I never miss with 160 accuracy on -31 accuracy moded power hammers. I am not quite capped on sword speed (I have 92 instead of 93) but I can still swing nearly at the speed cap. With all of my mods, I killed a canyon krayt dragon with 385 k mindin about 19 minutes and 30 seconds.

Just checking you are aware, on any skill tape or attachment it is only the highest mod that will take. So, if you get a +4 one handed speed on the same tape as a +3 twohanded speed only the one handed mod will work. If more than one mod has the same value, the one that will work is the one listed first.
Sorry it doesn't answer the question you actually asked, just thought I would throw it in to make sure you don't waste your creds.

Make sure you know what your doing when you put those tapes in your clothes because as you know only gloves, a shirt, bandolier, and belt are wearable with your armor equipped.
I was so mad when i finally got wookiee armor....i had put a +9 melee defence into a wook sage hood and now its just going to waste.

There are ways around this, Phima, You can place a +12 pistol speed with a +8 swordsman speed tape in a suit of armor....then put a +1 pistol tape in it too...that will then make the +1 work for hte pistols, and the +8 come out working....THis is becuase you cannot put multiple tapes of the same things into an item, the most recent tape will overcome all of the others (This is the information I have gotten through previous arguments about skills tapes and such)
If this doesn't make sense......its early.../yawn

Almost, but it's actually the other way around; you'd need to put the +1 tape in first. When you put the +12/8 tape in there would already be a pistol speed mod, so it would go to the second mod which is the +8 2h speed. I've done this several times and it's worked every time.

THat trick also works with attachments with negative modifiers.... So if you have an attachment with say a minus to intimidate and a bonus to 2handspeed you put it in a belt or somthing and then find another attachment with a +1 to intimidate...put that in the belt afterwards... and violla! no more minus to intimidate! you'd get the +1 to it instead.
